There's a baggage camp in one of your screenshots. Are these special units? Do they have an effect on the game?

Hi jomni, good morning. to be honest I am not sure. This type of field defense is present in both the Alcazarquivir and the Raydaniya scenarios. From the way they are laid out with troops deployed behind them it looks as if this should be the case. Odenathus designed both scenarios so its probably best of follow up with him?

Thanks. I'll try out the scenarios to see for myself. Might be useful in my mod as well.

Hi Jomni
Great. By the way were you planning to add Chinese & Korean Armies to you mod for the 1690's Japanese invasion of Korea. I have got quite a lot of graphics images for the period that I assembled for my mod of the HPS REN game which I could let have. Really like your hand drawn unit portraits and it would be great to see some for other far eastern armies.
Really looking foreword to your mod my the way.
All the best Ian

Yes I will. I think they will provide a some variety. Chinese and Koreans are missile / artillery armies as opposed to the Japanese shock and rifle troops. Would appreciate it a lot if you have any reference pictures to share.Hoplite1963 wrote:Hi Jomni

And here is a sneak peak for what's coming with version 2. Charles The Bold's Burgundian troops in the rain at Morat in 1476. Our first of (hopefully many) pre 1490's battles.

Re: Pike & Shot Battle Flag Graphics Pack Version 1
Hello Hoplite1963,
this looks great, very nice work!
Just one hint concerning the installation - I quote from your instructions:
The game reads most info it needs for a custom scenario from this scenario's folder under Documents/My Games/PIKEANDSHOT/CAMPAIGNS (or MULTIPLAYER in case of a MP scenario). Graphic files placed there do overwrite the vanilla files. So if you want to put new flag textures in a certain custom scenario, go to this scenarios folder and create the following path, for example ALCAZARQUIVIR/DATA/UI/Textures - in the last folder you put flag4.dds, flag9. dds, UnitIcons4.dds, UnitIcons9.dds. That's it. Fire up the game and you'll find the new flags flying above the units.
For you mod I recommend creating seperate folders (ScenarioXYZ/DATA/UI/Textures) for each custom scenario you've done new graphics for. After downloading the mod, the folks only have to put them in the right custom scenarios' folders. It's much easier to install it that way, there's no need to reinstall the original files afterwards, and there's no risk to mess things up.

Just one hint concerning the installation - I quote from your instructions:
You really don't have to exchange any files inside the main game folders, one can mess things badly up etc - I absolutely advise against that.1. First find out from the backup set that is included in the mod you want to install which "flag" and ''uniticon'' files you will need to replace in the game. Then in the main game folder in ''Pike & Shot'' open the "Data" subfolder, then open the ''UI" subfolder in that and the ''Textures'' subfolder in that, and delete the files you are going to replace (for example if you were setting up the ''Battle Of Raydaniya'' graphics set. ''Flag7" and ''UNITICONS7''. (the Default TYW Transylvanian files) As all ''Pike & Shot'' files are set to ''read only'' this is quicker than overwriting files as it avoids having to open up "properties for each and every file and un-tick and re-tick "read only''. This is not much fun and creates too many opportunities for missing out a step by mistake.
2. Now copy the identically named files in (for our ''Battle Of Raydaniya'' example) the '' New Mamluk Flag Files'' subfolder of the " Battle Of Raydaniya" graphics set into the 'Textures'' subfolder of your "Pike & Shot'' game.
3. Your graphics set is now ready to use. When you have finished with it delete the ''Flag7" and ''UNITICONS7'' files from the 'Textures'' subfolder of your "Pike & Shot'' game and replace them (in this example) with the ''Flag7" and ''UNITICONS7'' files in the "Default TYW Transylvanian files" subfolder of the " Battle Of Raydaniya" graphics set. And your back where you started.

Re: Pike & Shot Battle Flag Graphics Pack Version 1
If this already exists and I missed it, I apologize in advance.
Is there any chance that Version 2 could include notes on what flags have changed to what, and why ? It's nice to know what the rationale for the selection is.
What I had in mind was something along the lines of the notes that I included in my flag mods for Decisive Campaigns (among others).
I mention this after noticing that you've used a Castillian flag for the Spanish in an Italian War scenario, which is fine. But I'm left wondering if it was an aesthetic choice, because without doing any research on the matter, I would have expected to see the flag of Aragon instead, at least in the early part of the war. Sicily had been under Aragonese control pretty much since the Sicilian Vespers in the 13th century, and there were Aragonese connections to the throne of Naples.

Re: Pike & Shot Battle Flag Graphics Pack Version 1
Hi Philippe
Thanks for your e-mail a list of what set flag has been converted from what is incorporated into the user guide that comes with the package.
The choice of which flags sets were covered from which Was already made for me in most cases by those that made the scenarios. Where I have started from scratch as with the forthcoming German Peasants war sets I have gone for ones where there are suitable unit textures available for modding these later on.
For the Early Spanish flag I went for the Towers & Lions motifs I as the full banner incorporating all the flags of he various Spanish territories in used by the start of the Italian Wars was rather complex for a image that will be no larger than 64 pixels square and I know that the Towers & Lions flag was used by some Spanish infantry units in the early Italian Wars period.
However following your post I have gond bakc and look at this again and think I might get away with the full version as shown below. What do you think ?
