Hey Warlord!!!

Post by macdonncadh »

You graciously offered to help me with a question or two on scenario design and I have a simple one:

On Cropredy V.2 and I think one other, you assign units specific names without going in and creating units. I would like to learn to do that. I am doing a large battle between Scottish forces (with a significant Highland participation) and English forces. I've already made the clans as separate units in the squad file, but would like to name the English units. Thanks again for your generosity.

Cheers!

Hi......
open the squads file-- find the type of unit you want (eg' red dragoons (red is for side1, blue is for side0--also labelled as axis and allies)). Copy the two lines of text for that unit, and then paste at the bottom of the list. Change the name and give it a new unit number. In Cropredy I copied 'Red_Dragoons,8, (the 8 is the unit number) And changed it to Livesey's_Dragoons,266, ......
Then in TEXT 1....... add the lines of text
IDS_UNITNAME266,"Livesey's Dragoons",
IDS_UNITINFO266,"Livesey's Dragoons",
With the relevant number and name (this is just a sample from cropredy)
If all has gone well, the new unit will appear in the troop placement list.
I hope this helps you, examine the files in cropredy v2 for clarification as my power of explanation is not the best. That said if you do have a problem I will do my best to help.

Regards......
