Newbie questions about SS I posted with supply.

Post by jonpfl »

All,

Can someone give me some help. I am curious why my carrier says '10' and '+1', what does that signify?

Also, why does one of my boats have an orange 2?

Thx

The large white numbers indicate the supply points provided by the unit/ship/town to the troops ashore, and with respect to ships, only as long as the ship is on the coast/beach hex. The red 2 probably indicates that the PT boat is too small to generate supply points and instead consumes two supply points per turn from whatever source it can get nearby. This is all laid out in the game manual fairly well.

I am going to reread the rules but it wasn't completely clear after one read.

Note that the numbers on top of carriers and airfields refer to AIR supply. They do not provide supply for ground units. One carrier with 10 air supply output can support 3 aircraft with a supply cost of 3 each. The +1 means you have 1 air supply point in surplus (10 air supply output - 3 aircraft x 3 supply = 1)

Are there some carrier aircraft that use 4 supply? Or 2 supply? If not, what purpose does 10 supply from a carrier serve?

If there will always be 1 surplus, that seems like a useless extra point of supply. Why not just make the carrier provide 9 supply?

First not all planes costs three supply. The recon planes for example costs only two. Even if all planes would costs three supply tho with a carrier providing 10 points you get one free plane every three carrier.

You definitely want to have some recon planes like the Kingfisher in your airforce (they cost only 1 supply, not 2) and they never have to land on Carriers or airfields... (except if you need to repair them). Look into "Recon" section to buy them, not in the "Fighters" section.

Why does the ship with a red number point to the land if it doesn't supply support?

I believe it is a destroyer as I am doing the training missions.

I think it points to the ship, not to the land...

The ship with red number is providing 2 supply. It is red because it is damaged and is therefore providing less supply than if it was full strenght
