Game won't run
I just purchased and installed game (PanzerCorp 1.00) -- thrilled -- haven't been able to play PGII for a decade. I played it more than once without any problems. I updated and then problems as I cannot get the game to run at all. I have an HP Pavillion with Win8. I have uninstalled and reinstalled about 4 times -- I get the same result after reinstalling: Run time error -- failed to extract project file to memory. Help -- I really wanted to avoid doing chores!

It's difficult to solve such problems from afar but i give it a try. Did i understand you right that the installation and the patching works fine but the game won't start or does the problem already occur during installation?
In any case you could try to redownload the patch just in case it got corrupted during the download. I doubt personally it's the case but lets eliminate all possible sources. Next uninstall the game and boot your windows into the safe mode. If you need more information how to boot into safe mode see here. In the safe mode only the absolutely needed drivers and programs are started. I simply suspect some software you are running, a virus scanner or a firewall or something similar, interferes with your installation. Install and patch the game in safe mode then just restart and boot normally and see if the game works. If that solved the problem great, if not please report back and we can try to figure something else out.

Something you could try also, if available, is a compatibility mode.
I do not know on Win 8, but in Win 7 (not all versions), you can right click an icon, select Properties, there you have a "compatibility" tab where you can choose other OS (like win xp), also you can also force running the software as "Administrator".

You can also try installing the game in a folder different than the default one (C:\Program Files (x86)\....). Try installing at C:\ Games\... for example.
Also check if any of your Internet Security programs aren't interfering not only during the installation but also when the game is running.

Thanks for all the help! -- was finally able to get the patch downloaded -- not sure what the problem was but am glad it worked --
