Are there still plans afoot for a TYW campaign once the system has been sorted?

I am about to conduct my raid into South Wales, and must post a challenge for Turenne.
As sympathy for the King is so strong in that region, I assume he is the defender of the province, so he gets to choose the terrain and are we both the same strength (medium)?
Please place your orders of what you'd like me to pick up in the region...

What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Back among the living. Survived hail with lightning as well as the mud.

Could someone briefly explain just what settings I use to set up the battle in the South?

No, I don't issue for the South. I am defending, yes? But it's still an open battle?

Oh, this ancient mind is completely confused.

Battle in South: Blathergut is home there; Deadtorius is challenging. I have +100 points. Is the game set up as an Open battle where we both start with 1200 and use Advance settings to add 100 to my force? Or is it a reinforcement battle?

Lowlands vs Warlord: I set it up as 1200 each Open. Yes?

This is the Official Post from Keyth.

"Challenges
As mentioned above, I will publish the challenges giving details of Region, players and armies involved. Challenges should be Open Battle, Medium Force and Medium Map."

Keyth's advice that was quoted to you is for a normal battle but as your battle involves using bonus points away from their source region your settings need to be:

Reinforcements (Own) battle
Force size: yours 1300, your opponent 1200
Medium map (32/32)
Agricultural

Note - Cavehobbit mentioned that when he put in 1300 the map size increased which he then had to reduce back to 32/32.

Edit: To clarify - the above settings relates to the battle in the South.

The Behemoth system that we are about to start testing will lend itself better to the TYW, obviously in my opinion! The format of the Great Rebellion is based on a fixed number of players and is quite 'static' - I don't see these as flaws, they are pretty much by design.

For a sprawling, many-headed hydra of a conflict like TYW, I personally think that more strategic, map-based options are required. One of the design 'ideologies' of Behemoth is that the underlying system is portable, all you need is a nodal map and any historical flavouring and you are away.

That said, there is no reason why someone couldn't adapt GR for the TYW, it's just not going to be me :) I am happy to share the spreadsheet with anyone who would like a go.

I was only commenting on the Lowlands Challenge, no bonus points involved.

Sorry my mistake, I missed the last line of Blatherguts's post referring to the Lowlands. My settings advice for him relate to his battle in the South.

cavehobbit wrote:I got the same default points as Ironclad, 1200/1080. When adjusting the 1080 points I got 1180, 1280, etc. But it is possible to decrease down to 100, then you can increase the number of points to 1100, 1200 etc. But if you change any sides number of points to 1300 the map size changes to wide and you have to set the width manually to 32.
I think this is the best way to manage the issue - thanks CH!

Victory! The Scots dug deep and won in The Highlands 48/16. Thanks for the game Doyley50.

I fear it's about to be curtains in the North West, but one victory out of two is a major improvement on most of my previous turns!
