Could one of the artsy modders here give me a nice link to how we merge a JPEG into a PNG with the transparency and all that? I mod code more and so far I've just been inserting square units into my game without issues. But if I wanted to go circular...

Any free editing tool out there (Gimp?) that works? My Xara is not very user-friendly. Makes great book covers but is so unintuitive with this kind of modding that I often wonder why I bought it.

First, apply the black circle image as a mask to get the round shape, then place the "counter" image on top as a new layer (may have to adjust transparency of that layer). not sure about tools though, so long as it supports layers and masks, should work fine.

If you're familiar with code though, you can probably write a simple app to do the same job.
