Game Stuttering
I'm experience some poor game stuttering.
Whenever I see the impact from a tank/cannon/gun the game takes a considerable stutter.
My system specs:
Intel i7 4770 3.5ghz
16g Ram
Windows 7, 64b
Nvidia GeForce 770
I run games like ArmA 3 on Ultra settings - this shouldnt be a hardware issue.

Re: Game Stuttering
Not something I've ever seen. Could it be an issue with sound? Do you see stuttering on other events which have sound effects? Are these large (most of the screen) explosions or just the small 'hit the ground' ones?

Haven't observed it on anything but tank/cannon impacts. It seems to be when a round misses its target, and causes a ground impact/explosion.pipfromslitherine wrote:Could it be an issue with sound? Could it be possinly related to the animation?

Are you running on an especially high refresh rate monitor? It may be that it's just dropping it down from 120Hz or something?

Try SHIFT+Q to see the frame rate and see what happens during one of these actions.

Re: Game Stuttering
Hmmm. I'm not sure what could be causing it. It must be some system specific interaction, unless Richard has hidden 1000 particles in each puff!

Re: Game Stuttering
Not really. It's a system specific problem that it's unlikely we could easily solve. That said, I have added taking a look at the performance characteristics of the particle system.

Ok. Thanks for that.
My system is pretty good - I mean - I run ArmA 3 on Ultra with no issues.

Re: Game Stuttering
I sympathise - the game runs consistently on a crappy integrated Intel chipset. It can be any number of things. E.g. some models of nVidia cards had terrible performance characteristics when doing multi-layered alpha blending even though 99% of the time their performance was exceptional. It could be a bottlenecking somewhere in the memory subsystem which only shows up when trying to play a sound. Or in a driver somewhere... The beauty of PCs
