15 February 2020 Update Note: I've been playing FoG and editing some old scenarios for my own amusement in the last two years or so. This is just one of them and I felt inclined to share this updated version of Djahy. I did a lot of research to upgrade this so it would go against the grain a bit not to upload it for anyone who might [still] be interested. If FoGII ever adds Swifter Than Eagles and Storm of Arrows and Swords of Scimitars dlcs or their rough equivalent, I might have a chance to recreate these scenarios for FoG II. Until then...

Pharaoh Ramesses III (not The Great, but still pretty good for his time) against the Sea Peoples, who intended to invade Egypt by land and sea after sacking the Hittite vassal state of Amurru. This is the first of at least two campaigns that Ramesses fought against these migrant raiders, whose varied origins are uncertain. The Battle of the Delta, fought on both land and sea, was the definitive encounter. Both the Battle of the Delta and the Djahy encounter have been frequently conflated in later retellings, but it's almost certain that they were two different battles in the same war. This extended war was practically the last gasp of the New Kingdom before the entire region succumbed to a dark age that lasted about 400 years or more.

Egyptian wall carvings in the mortuary temple of Ramesses III at Medinet Habu and one papyrus account are essentially what we know of Djahy. The Sea Peoples, according to the temple reliefs and descriptions, were well organized and had chariots not unlike those of the Egyptians (in appearance at least). The wikipedia article provides a concise description of the battle and lists good source references which are of course commentaries on the Medinet Habu carvings and other findings.

I realize that it's a bit early for such an extensive revision but I've had serious misgivings about the lack of satisfying unit graphics for the Sea Peoples. I substituted other unit graphics which I hope will be less unpalatable. These will have to do until proper graphics become available, if ever, for these troops. This revision also benefits from additional extensive research into the Sea Peoples themselves and their allies.

I'm retaining the older version (1.0) in the original post for comparison purposes, along with a listing for the download link to version 2.0.

Still trying to improve the graphics and values for the Sea Peoples when there are no graphics or values for them. At least not yet. This version is the closest I could get with the available choices. Made for several lively games at least.

Version 3.0 now downloadable from the link in the first post.

"New" information received. The Sea Peoples did not have archers, not even the chariots. Just javelins, swords and axes (axes are rendered as heavy weapon in this scenario). Further research into the Sea Peoples’ armies provided me with additional ideas for this scenario. Coincidentally, I’ve just finished reading the recently published Sea Peoples of the Bronze Age Mediterranean c. 1400 BC – 1000 BC, by Raffaele D’Amato and Andrea Salimbeti, 2015 Osprey Publishing Ltd., which I’ve found very instructive and well-written.

Version 3.2 (I skipped version 3.1 :P ) available via the link in the original post.

Download link to version 4.0 available in the original post. Reflects additional research on late Bronze Age organization of Egyptian army, plus more background on Sea Peoples troop types (up to an ascertainable point).

Download link to version 4.1 available in the original post. More work on the Sea Peoples stand-in graphics was in order, particularly to correct one of the units with inappropriate archers. If we ever get the digital version of Swifter Than Eagles it will hopefully be easier to find acceptable graphics for this group, or at least I hope so.
