Hello all,
I don't have the rules with me, and I have a couple of questions.
1) My friend said in an earlier game that if Commanders get within shooting range of an enemy without a friendly BG around them, they are eliminated. I tried to look for that in the rules yesterday, and couldn't find it. Do they get removed, and if so, when?
2) In the situation below
A
B A
B A
B
C C C
If my understanding is correct, C cannot charge A, because it is not a flank charge, and if an opponent has all of its frontage contacted, the best C can do is either move to an overlap position, or move to a position to launch a flank charge in a subsequent turn. First, is that correct?
Second, assume that C has just broken a unit directly to its front, and its pursuit move will have it contact A - again, not a flank charge. What happens? We played that it stopped an inch away, and that it could move to overlap or away from A during the next maneuver phase. Is THAT correct?
3) In this situation:
A A A A
B B B B
C
C
C
C charges, and with stepping forward, it looks like this:
A A A A
C1
B B B B
C2 C3
C1 stepped forward into unit A, C2 contacted unit B, and C3 stepped forward into unit B. Is it legal for C1 to step forward into unit A? If so, then during the maneuver phase, how do we align?
Either:
A A A A
C
B B B B
C C
or:
A A A A
B B B B
C C C
Situation 1 doesn't seem right, because it splits the unit. Situation 2 doesn't seem to be right, because it means that A was contacted in impact, but not in melee? Which is correct, or is there a third option?
Thank you in advance for all the help!
Jake

Re: Several questions
This is not exactly what the rules say. There is something in there somewhere, but I'm pretty sure the above applies only if the enemy move to within shooting range of the lone commander and specifically the commander must move to a friendly BG or be lost. IIRC commanders can themselves move within shooting range of enemy with impunity.JakeStrangeway wrote:Hello all,

In the other questions your diagrams have come out wrong because of the wa text displays on this forum. You need to tag them as "code" to get them to come out right and even then you might need a bit of jiggling (use "preview" instead of "submit")
correct

Yes, the charge and step forward are legal (assuming the stepped forwardC retains at least a tinu bit of contact with the other C's).

For conforming you take the third option, which is "do not conform". This is explained in the rules.
