Skirmish/Custom Battle mode

Are there any ideas to add a skirmish/custom battle mode to this game?

It would be really good if we could have a selection of maps and then choose your own army and the opponents and then have a custom battle without the need to use the editor to make a new scenario.
Does anyone else agree that this would add to the overall experience of the game?

I think most of us would love this kind of mode - against the AI though I wonder if there is trouble in teaching the AI how to build a whole army and then deploy it on its own.

Already you could do player VS player with maps with only starting zones, points and unit limits and no units deployed for custom games. Limiting the unit rosters as well. What the game really needs though is a way for the pre-game to talk to the editor and map so that you could vary the starting faction/points costs from the start. At present you could sort of do that but it would rely upon either making dozens of different versions of the same map to suit; or trusting the honesty of the player to "only pick up to or from a certain" roster.

Well this seems to be the big feature that everyone wants.


Id even be happy with random maps where I could pick units for the ai, but unfortunately the editor has me really confused with all its layers and bases and who knows what else.

Anybody know if given a random map is the ai smart enough to fight a battle on it?
