A couple of questions about Vietnam 65

It is 1965 and the US ground war in Vietnam is in full swing. As a US Army commander, wage a counter-insurgency (COIN) war to secure the Ia Drang valley, on the border with Cambodia.

A couple of questions about Vietnam 65

Post by BKass »

Great game! I'm really enjoying it. A couple of questions:
1. Do fire bases and forward bases have a built in defensive factor, or do they need to be garrisoned with troops in order to withstand attacks?
2. Does terrain affect combat, for example, would VC/NVA when attacked in jungles vs. grassland or rice paddies have a greater defense factor?
3. When villages display flags which indicate support for VC/NVA, is the only way to increase support for the US to just keep visiting them or win battles near them?
Thanks for an interesting game.

They have a very low defense value, around 5 if I recall...

We are currently working on a more refined combat modified system which takes a lot more than terrain into consideration, like for eg close proximity to Green Berets, weather etc

Don't really want to disclose the whole formula due to the massive debate it always unlocks as everyone has their own view on the contents and intensity of the factors, all I can say is that it will take all fundamentals and relevant factors into consideration, going to have to trust me on this one.... :)

To raise HM at villages, visit them when the fire is lit and also win combat situations in close proximity, esp VC combat which is the higher modifier.
