Name of the city at (123, 19)

Post by dooya »

Could someone please let me know what the name of the city at Hex (123, 19) is in the English version of the game? In the German version of CEAW it just says "Stadt" which translates to "city". Does not sound like a Russian city to me. :D

No one? :(

It is the city 4 hexes to the south from Moscow.

~edit~
Ok, found it out on my own. The missing name is Tula and it is not only missing in the German version, but also in the Russian, Spanish and Italian versions. Instead of Tula, those 4 versions have "Eisenerz-Route" (Iron-Route") in Norway which, however, obviously has no production hex assigned to it.

However, I posted a fix for the German version in the mod forum.

There is not a city in this hex in the vanilla game. The hex is not so far from the Russian city of Tula. Tula would be located 2 hexes to the east to the hex you mention. So maybe somebody tried to add the Tula city in the German version, but forgot to send the updated txt file all the city names.

Mhhh, strange.

I actually installed the English demo 1.06 and there is a city exactly at (123, 19) and its name is Tula. It is located 4 hexes to the south and 1 hex to the west from Moscow. Moreover, if you have a look into the ww2_city_eng.txt you find the line

Code: Select all

8875 "Tula"
which actually translates to 123*72+19, thus, the coordinates (123, 19). This particular line is missing in all the other language versions (ww2_city_ger.txt, ww2_city_rus.txt, ww2_city_pol.txt, ww2_city_ita.txt, ww2_city_spa.txt). If you add this line to the German ww2_city_ger.txt, the name of the city is displayed correctly. (However, does not appear to work when loading a saved game, only if starting a new one...)

At the same time all language but the English one have the line

Code: Select all

6121 "Eisenerzroute"
in their ww2_city_***.txt, which points to an empty hex in northern Norway. In the game there is only this text line displayed but not a resource hex. Thus, it does not make very much sense...

Some cities were added after initial play balance adjustments, post release and we did not re localise the game, so we just went with a generic name such as City in other languages where we could not easily find the name. Belfast as added too but we had someone tell us teh name for that in German.
