Vietnam 65 unbiased comment

It is 1965 and the US ground war in Vietnam is in full swing. As a US Army commander, wage a counter-insurgency (COIN) war to secure the Ia Drang valley, on the border with Cambodia.

In such case, buy 2 cobras early and a chinook or two.

expensive much??
Certainly, this will be where the majority of funds will go. You do not need to get it all at once, though I'd reccomend one Cobra early on and the chinook soon after if its a very forested map. If you narrow down the NVA invasion route and place an outer outpost in its path, you will keep getting enough political points from repelling the NVA assaults.

There's no satisfaction in cheating. But I'd ask the dev to leave the hole unplugged for scientific purposes only :D

Steam cares about cheating in online multiplayer games. I don't think it's a big deal for single player games. How would they know anyway, unless they are tracking how achievements are given out. Does this game even have Steam achievements?

I had a relly good score there, partially becaus ethe terrain was nice. But IMHO this can be used on maps with more rough terrain and you can still win, albeit probably with a lower H&M score.

OK, I'll break it down, hope this helps:

- The enemy is hidden, you need to know where they are. The unit you have that counters this is the Green Beret (GB). You start with one of them. March him around toward the nearest 3 villages from your HQ. Don't get him more than 1.5 Huey flights from your HQ at first, but try to make sure you have vision of the corridor between your HQ and your closest cluster of villages.

- Take your 3 hueys and fly your 3 infanty to the 3 nearest villages that have a landing zone nearby (1-2 tiles). Visit the village, hop back in the huey, go to the next one, then come back home and refuel. Don't get too far away at first. This gets you intel.

- Buy 1 cobra right at the start of the game. If your GB spots an enemy or if you visit a village that shows you an enemy, go kill it with your cobra. Don't even bother using your infantry for combat unless you need to. Always use your artillery and your cobra and your air strike first (USE YOUR AIR STRIKE EVERY TIME IT IS AVAILABLE, especially on bases).

- Don't bother clearing jungle, it is a waste of turns for your Engineer (you start with one) and you're not conducting a land war you're in the air. The first things to do with your Engineer are start building a road toward the nearest village in the cluster you chose to sent your GB to. Also, if there are any nearby villages without a landing zone, go clear 1 jungle square adjacent from the village to land hueys (make sure you have a scout and ideally an infantry or cobra in the area as protection). Once your GB is in the middle of the cluster or between 2 villages that are exactly 1 huey flight from your HQ, send in your Engineer, clear the tile of jungle if necessary and plant your Firebase. Buy an Arty and drop it in your firebase (or move the one from your HQ if you are safe enough there or are out of funds). Make the villages around the firebase YOURS!

- Now buy another Green Beret, keep one moving farther out and one in the corridor between your HQ and Firebase so you don't take too much dmg to your hueys.

That should get you started. Rinse repeat with forward bases, tho the logistics are a bit different with them since they don't resupply.
