Are modded units included? (because you posted in the scenario design section). Stock unit is a difficult choice...

Germany: StuG IV (versatility, cheap, gains experience quickly)
UK: Crocodile (Flammpanzer that is actually survivable)
USA: M4A3(105) (in Allied Corps, I must have Shermans, and I always end up with a few of these)
Soviet Union: SU-152 (Very good, versatile)

My current top few units.

UK: Croc - hard to kill, 140% ROF, good close defence, and reasonable HA as well. If you have a decent defence hero it's the king of close terrain, and with a decent attack hero and some overstrength you can wipe out almost any soft unit in one attack.
Germany: Elefant - when they become available they make such a huge difference and stay viable to the end.
Other - probably strategic bombers. What enemy unit is dangerous when it has no ammo or fuel?
