I recommend you to watch Deducter sc on youtube, he made a playthrough from 1939 to 1944. You will learn how to use the artillery as cover (except in 1939 cuz in the early years the game is more rushy).

Out of it, the game is pretty simple, if you make a Korps ahistorical, with some panzer III and IV + grenadier/engineer/wehrmacht infantry, cover by wuhfrummen (mobile artillery with rockets) and sturmpanzer, well you will have not so much troubles.

But i recommend you to play with a historical panzerkorps, that had a lot more infantry than tanks. --> viewtopic.php?f=121&t=46302&start=20 you can see here. (building historical Korps make the game harder though , but more fun :D )

I think this board is one of the best places to go - there's a host of information on here. Admittedly, you have to do a bit of searching and reading to find it. By now, you've probably figured out that you can't just buy a big fat tank & drive through everything. It seems that every unit class has a role - including the widely despised recon units in my opinion. This reflects well on the overall balance & design of the game. You may ultimately favor one unit type, but I've found it's usually best to bring at least a little of everything.

To me though, part of what makes a game fun is figuring it out & finding out what strategies & tricks work. It's applied to PC and to all of the great games I've played including the SC series, the Civ series & of course the original PG. Happy gaming.
