email game problem

trying to play an email game with a friend -- i sent the turn and when he tried to d/l it , it said older version --- ( meaning my game i think ) -- well he d/l from matrix - then updated to 1.06 -- i d/l from slitherine and the game came as 1.06 --- but whats it worth when i check my" file version " it shows to be 1.0.7.1 --- he said his was 1.0.0. something -- but not the same as mind ---- any thoughts ?????

Do you have the same OS? both have Vista or someone have XP and other one Vista? Could be how it saves the files dependant on machine.

I even tryed deleting game and reinstaling 1.04 NO GO then tryed the patch NO GO When I was perusing arround the foroum I noticed some stuf about them doing the patch for Matrix. and having one for there version of game Just spitbaling, but there may be some differences? I think my idea about mailing a CD with copy of game and code may be the way to go here?

When u send the saved game file to opponent, do you compress it first might work better. Also, does it say "ceaw 1.06" in the bottom right corner in the main menu for both players?

yes we both compress email file -- and yes both show v 1.06 --- is there any one we both can sent a fast turn to see if it works for them ???

one you might also want to look into is that the update patch at matrix is 5.3 mb ----- the one at slitherine is 17.3 mb ------ dont think thats good - just a heads up --

ps -- the other player is going to remove the matrix update and try installing the slitherine update -- will keep you posted

You can only use the update for your version - trying to apply the Slitherine update on a Matrix installation wont work.

your right it didn`t work --- but get a matrix v1.06 play a slitherine v1.06 ????? could that be our problem ??

It should not be an issue to play matrix vs Slitherine, but it's possible Vista is doing somethign a bit off when it saves the files so the format may be very slightly different and cause the problem. It needs a bit more research to work out where the error is. I assume you can both load and save normally in single player?

this is getting real old now --- you guys are not helping ---- i have sent and my parter as sent the test game to firepower 2 times each ---- reading some posts here sounds like a problem with the update patch game and the new game that comes as 1.06 --- Exception this game was saved in a previous version of the game and cannot be loaded"-- we got this game for pbem only -- looks like its back to playing " world at war - grigsbys game - even though you can change the build codes in that game too easy -- looks like the next step is calling VISA -- AND PUTTING A STOP PAYMENT ON THIS GAME - with copys of all posts with problems with this game -- too bad -- just poor support here

The problem could be the attached file somehow, can u mail without any file and say just "hello, i have trouble with CEAW" or something so that we see if the mail is working or not?

I strongly disagree.

On a normal day Iain gets around 100 emails, after a weekend probably 300 to go through. He also has uses a heavy spamfilter, as the spam is horrendous sometimes, so mail is sometimes blocked by accident. So try to be a bit patient please.

Second thing is, in most of Europe it is a Sunday right now, even more an official Christian holiday, as will be this coming Monday, everything is closed here on the continent at least.

So people are trying to help you in their free time on a holiday and we also got families to attend to sometimes.

Just mail Iain and be a bit patient, Slitherine is known for their close customer support, but they are no robots, 24/7 online and ready to serve, although probably it is close to it sometimes.

problem gone --- i give my parter a burned cd i made of my game and my info --- he remove his copy from matrix - installed my copy and all is well now - we are playing email games --- at last --- hope you guys sort out this thing -- we cant be the only ones with this problem ---
