You beat me to it. This is exactly what I was going to point out. It was delicious cheese while it lasted, but the line of command rules eat it right up.

Except this is what they do say "Commanders can only effect battle groups for which they
are in line of command". A sub-commander is NOT in line of command for allied battle
groups, so the FC doesn't count.
Which is all well and good, but when you are rolling to bring on a flank march you are not affecting the Battle Groups in any way shape or form!!! It is the general who is flank marching, he is just taking some mates with him :)

The comment about having to be in line of command is more problematic and I hadn't noticed that one... Could take some thinking about...
