Greetings,
I am about begin an 800-point EAP 28mm army (which can be seen here). Since there are no local purveyors of miniatures, though, I will have to import them from overseas (I live in Guatemala, Latin America). Also, my background is 28mm fantasy/sci-fi and 15mm WWII, so I do not know much about ancient historical makers and their qualities.
This is what I am looking for:
- EAP Guard Cavalry
- EAP Persian/Median Cavalry (I guess they could be the same, just painted differently?)
- EAP Immortals (in Median dress by 530 b.C., I guess?)
- EAP Sparabara infantry (again, Median dress, I suppose)
- Saka bow/sword light horse
- Bactrian bow/light spear light horse
- Generic Asian bow light horse
- Generic Asian bow light foot
- Generic Asian javelin light foot
I would like to be as historicaly correct as possible, but I understand there may be things I just won't be able to find. Finally, price is somewhat of an issue, as I will have to pay international shipping (and no mail... things disappear in the mail here... DHL or FedEx) and import tariffs.
Thanks for any and all comments.

Re: Help with 28mm EAP miniatures
Have you considered 1/72 plastic figures on 25mm-figure bases? They are cheap and plentiful and very light.windpeoples wrote: I would like to be as historicaly correct as possible, but I understand there may be things I just won't be able to find. Plastic Soldier Review is the best reference.

Greetings Quintus, and thanks for your reply.
I have considered 1/72 plastics, yes. The one thing that stops me from buying them is the, shall we call it "accuracy" of the Persian heavy cavalry, at least where FoG is concerned. The EAP FoG list says that EAP guard and heavy cavalry are armed with bow and sword (I guess cavalry axe would be included). Zvezda's cavalry set only has two archers and two swordsmen (although it also has one nice-looking charriot, which is an interesting option), with the other 4 riders being armed with spears. The HäT heavy cavalry set has 12 spearmen, while the medium cavalry set has three swordsmen, three axemen, and six spearmen. It seems to me that the Zvezda and HäT sets are more oriented towards the LAP than the EAP.
Zvezda's Persian infantry box does seem suitable for the Immortals and sparabara (with HäT's box more appropriate for LAP), while the HäT Persian light infantry set could cover the LI in the list. HäT's Parthian light cavalry probably would be a passable Saka unarmoured cavalry (I have not found any Saka 1/72 plastic minis so far).
So, to sum it all up, if I use only archers and swordsmen/axemen for the Persian Cavalry, the number of boxes I would need to buy would go up, as for some reason I do not see soft plastic as being an easy material to make conversions with, or is it? Have never worked with it before, only hard plastics and white metal.
But thanks for your reply, it makes me feel welcome in the forums

I have a Late Achaemenid Persian army, and I'd recommend the following 28mm miniatures:
Vendel Miniatures (UK)
http://www.vendelminiatures.co.uk
The infantry is very nice. Good for both periods and lots of "subject peoples" available. On the downside the cavalry is a little chunky. Easy to paint, and rather tall for 28mm.
Wargames Foundry (UK)
http://www.wargamesfoundry.com
The quality is great. I find it a little hard to get the right infantry the way they set up the packs, but I purchased loads of their cavalry.
Old Glory (USA)
http://www.oldgloryminiatures.com/
These are the cheapest around. Sculpting quality/variety of poses is disappointing with the Persians, but I have purchased some chariots from them.
1st Corps

I've never ordered any of these. They look nice though.

If anyone could post links to pictures of minis, particularly of 1st Corps cavalry, especially Sword/Sagaris Median Cavalry (though pictures of any EAP minis would help), I would be really thankful. It is sometimes difficult to find a photo to make sure that what one found is what one is looking for...
Thanks!
