Disengagement

Hello,

Is the disengagement option in Desert Fox only suggested at certain times by the game engine - time line?
Or can I provoke it at the beginning of any turn?

Disengagement occurs if: (1) the player initiating an offensive fails to maintain it; and (2) the other player does not seize the initiative. The Axis maintains an offensive by expending at least 1 supply each turn (after the first). The CW maintains by attacking or taking control of a space during a night impulse, or the first daytime impulse.
