ending game without using Resign

Post by winterfox »

I have several games that the opposing player has not taken a turn in quite some time.
How do I claim the game or end the game without using the "resign" function?

You can’t.

This is something we hope to add in some fashion in the future.

I don't now about you but this sometimes happens when I'm in a winning position, which in my case is not often enough, so I'm reluctant to resign. Would it be possible to have a fix where if your opponent doesn't move for two weeks then you either get an automatic win, or an option to void?

Both of those have been discussed as possibilities.

I will point out that one game center player, burnsj002, who is currently on top of the leader board in wins, may be exploiting this, He was playing me in Typhoon and the game was speeding along until I made a move where I could take Moscow (which was open) on the next turn. It's been a week now and he hasn't made another move, nor has he resigned. I wonder how many of his "wins" are from leaving people hanging when he's losing and hoping they will "resign" to clear the game out of their current box. Anyone else have the same experience?

I think one week without having made a single move should be sufficient to qualify for auto-resign. Two if you wanted to be super-generous. In my experience, I've never seen players disappear when they're winning ;-)

I played a game (Typhoon) with him 2 days ago and at the beginning of turn five the best result he could get was a draw. After the first impulse of last turn, the defeat was certain for him and he continued the game till the end. So, on this game I can say he played as a gentleman-wargamer.

Ouch!!
Thanks Jwel-01 for having my back. Lol.

Yea, I remember that game thedudeabidez.. I "forfeit" the game from the Game Center not from Inside Dom. So, I don't know what happened. There are several games that I should have won but people have stopped playing. We just have to wait for updates to fix that. Meantime just enjoy the game, have fun playing.

Thedudeabidez invite me to play again and I will resign from inside Dom... Maybe the Game Center has a bug.

Yea, I shouldn't be at the top of the leader board or the bottom either. I don't know where I should be...There is currently a bug in the ELO rating system that I discovered. I'm not a jerk and exploit it. I reported the bug to Shenadoah and I told them to reset my rating. But I'm not going to tell everyone what the bug is either... Lolz.

Hello Burnsj002,

Ok, good to hear from you.

I was sending you messages from Chat but with no reply, so was wondering what was happening.

So the game is no longer in your current section? It's completed?

I can't get rid of it unless I resign, so I will take your offer then.
After you do the auto-resign, let's have a re-match, scenario of your choice, so you can get some revenge. Maybe ;-)

** Shenandoah: note another bug here. Opponent resigned from within Game Center, but the game remains in my Current Games status as "Soviet (opponent) to move" ... **

I "forfeit" the game from the Game Center, then I removed the game.. So I can't resign again or even see your chat. It must be a bug in Game Center.. Because sometimes I play opponents then suddenly it says(null) for their name ... This is in the Game Center.

Anyway, just hit me up to be your friend.. I'll resign from inside Dom two games to make up for that game. I think the bug is when you forfeit from the Game Center.

Peace...

Thanks for the reports -- several fixes related toward GC resignation/game end should be in the next release.

Much appreciate the feedback. Note that sending feedback directly from in-game is best (if possible), since it gives us a step-by-step method of understanding the problem.

This isn’t something I recall seeing after release, so if you have it happen, please send feedback from within the game if at all possible. And, “Game Center” includes at least three things in the game (starting a new match, picking an existing match, playing a match) so let us know what happened right before.

Note that the resign issues are impossible to report, since you can't send in-game bug reports for anything once the game is finished.

Sending reports from within the game gets them into our tracking system, as opposed burying them the forum. This means it is much harder for a bug report to get ignored. (Yes, we do read the forum, but that’s not the same as a trackable issue.)

If a report is not about the current game, just delete the screen shot and saved game.
