What is the red fist?

Firstly, wonderful game. Thanks for putting it out. Up to now I've been charging my iPad once /maybe/ twice per week; but I've already had to recharge it once today after getting the game last night. I can see myself putting in a lot of hours with this fun game.

Secondly, what's with the red fist icon that pops up on occasion when I am being attacked? I've only seen it twice and it disappears before I get a chance to press it. I didn't see any reference to it in the instructions.

It happens when you have more than one combat in a turn. It lets you pick which ones to resolve and in which order
