Haha, no kiddin!

Uhm... Problem... Is it definitely spelt COLOUR (Brit way) not COLOR?
I've just added the SIDES.TXT file as above, and the

IDS_SIDETYPE0, “Axis”,
IDS_SIDETYPE1, “Allies”,

lines into my TEXT1.TXT

Now BA2 hangs up when I choose that Campaign in the Editor... Just stalls on the loading stage... Huh???
Did you copy these lines from your TEXT1.TXT?

Code: Select all

IDS_SIDETYPE0, “Axis”,
IDS_SIDETYPE1, “Allies”,
Could it be you are using some " that can't be read by BA2? Compare with these:

Code: Select all

IDS_SIDETYPE0, "Axis",
IDS_SIDETYPE1, "Allies",

Hmmm, I don't think it's the TEXT1.TXT. The problem happens even if I \\ those lines.

But if I remove SIDES.TXT, the problem goes away.

All that's in SIDES.TXT is...

[Axis]
UICOLOUR 00ff1111
NATION 1

[Allies]
UICOLOUR 00ffffff
NATION 7

So I wonder what's wrong?

Jon, it could be something about how SIDES.TXT was saved, in what character coding the text file was set to use. I think I've had this problem at some point. You could duplicate TEXT1.TXT, rename the copy to SIDES.TXT and then add the Axis and Allies colour code. As there is no problem with TEXT1.TXT you should get a SIDES.TXT with the correct character coding.
If this does not work, I could send you the map pack I used for testing your scenario.

The sides file should be in ASCII encoding. The text files are unicode so you should not have them in the same format :)

Thanks Pip & P-A, When I re-save as UTF 8-bit, it works just fine...
Germans are now side 0... Phew!
