round bases

Post by ochoin »

Hello, I'm new to FoG-R (though I've enjoyed Ancients for some years)

I'm creating a Swedish army & want to know if circular bases are OK

Thanks.

Some people use round bases for generals, but it would be hard to line up troops as required by the rules unless they are on rectangular bases, all with the same frontage.

By the way, you will have noticed that I moved this thread to the FOGR section of the board. Pike & Shot is the computer version.

I personally dislike round bases for generals, but accept it. I find that it looks too out of place. But then, I use 25mm generals for 15mm armies... so it's not like I'm Mr Ordinary myself.

Do whatever you want... so long as you're not trying to get an advantage most people wont care.

I use round bases for my generals as well... For me easier to spot on the board...mid anything using round bases over square bases buts you at a disadvantage... This being when using a square base to have the "corner area" to measure to/from when moving, general inside 4", 12" etc.... So a circular base might not reach that last bit of smidge of distance when measuring diagonally ...
