Tyranids unit graphics all done, still needs harridan photos

I have to say I'm kinda sad that the Harridan won't be in. Giant flying monstrous creature with two bio-cannons isn't exactly just a gargoyle carrier imo, but I can see why you've decided not to model it. That does bring me to ask if the Hierodule will be made or not, as its another of the big nasties, but also is a bit obscure.

Also have to say that I love the work done so far.

i'm glad you made the suggestions of those 2 creatures. i didn't even know what a hierodule is until you mentioned it. i looked it up and the creature reminds me of a zergling. :mrgreen: anyway i will be happy to include them in pack 6.

i'm not a tabletop player although i'm a fan of warhammer 40k and tyranids. all my research of unit list is based on the internet. so it's entirely possible that i missed some obscure units. so if you guys think that i missed some units feel free to post suggestions/requests here. i will add them into this project. but before you do that, take a look at what's in pack 5 and pack 6:

in pack 5 there will be 6 units: maleceptor ( another new unit from 7th edition codex ) , harpy , hive crone, haruspex, pyrovore and ripper swarm .

in pack 6 there will be 6 units: harridan, hierodule, mawloc, genestealer cult/hybrids, dimachaeron and genestealer broodlord variant. ( the existing genestealers will still be there, now there are simply 2 variants of genestealers, with broodlord and without. )

pack 7 : shrikes, skyslashers

maybe list: Dominatrix, Dactylis

so feel free to post any missing units ( obscure or not ) as suggestions, i will add them in. :D

now due to this obscure nature of units like hierodule and harridan i might have trouble finding certain angle of pictures of those units on the internet. luckily i found 2 very clear pictures for hierodule. that's settled. but on the other hand i can not find any usable pictures for the north facing angle for harridan. therefore i will soon update the first post with request of those pictures, hopefully some of the forum guys here can help me by sending me those pictures.

one more thing, i will also be doing sound effects for the nids. all of those will be recorded from dawn of war 2. some of them already done. but my priority right now is the graphics. as for the weapon effect graphics we can simply use some of the existing effects in game, all planned for now, but can be quickly and easily lifted from base game. so basically the graphics and sound portion of the tyranids full faction addon is being taken care of. ( although you guys feel free to make your own, i'm not stopping you. :mrgreen: )

So basically soon we would have the first race finished. Now we need only all the traits to make them work ^_^ - so looking forward to the next updates...

no not yet man, we are getting there, but we still have lots of work to do. see my other new thread about stats crunching. that's a lot of work. :?

Well there is the Dimachaeron, that looks pretty wicked.
But what is reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaally missing are Genestealer Hybrids! That's quite a few of them, one for every race (humans, orks, tau, eldar etc.). It will be hard to find miniature pictures of genestealer hybrids, of those you find the human hybrids will be the most common ones as they had a own supplementary codex in 2ed edition i think. Still having hybrids would be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

awesome suggestions! dimachaeron and genestealer hybrids will be added. i was actually surprised at how many available pictures for genestealer hybrids on the internet. there are loads of them! :shock: although all of them are human hybrids though, no other race hybrids. so only human genestealer hybrids will be added.

i will also add the broodlord variant to the genestealers. the existing genestealers will still be there, now there are simply 2 variants of genestealers, with broodlord and without. :D

I'm glad you decided to add all of those in. Maybe you could add in Shrikes? They're the warrior flier form. I've only seen them really used as flying synapse but they're bigger and tougher than gargoyles. Only other things I can really think of are the main carnifex variants (weapon setups) (skreamer killer, dakkadakka and stone crusher), but since there already is a carnifex, its more of if you want to flesh them out than anything else.

If you add ripper swarms you also could add skyslashers, which are basically flying rippers.

Few other Tyranid creatures I know of:

Dominatrix: bigger, more baddass than the Heirophant. It's the largest and strongest creature Tyranids have to offer. There is no current model or rules, as it was originally for the, now discontinued, Epic supplement. You might have to look around for a nice modern looking miniature. There are few good locking conversions.

Dactylis: a heavy artillery creature for tyranids. Like the Dominatrix, it was part of the Epic supplement.

yes completely forgot about the shrikes. i will add them.

as for weapon variants of same creatures, as i said in another post, unfortunately i won't be making them, that would be too much work. sorry.

hmm skyslashers will be a good choice, i will add them. found some pictures too.

as for the other 2, i was aware of them, but they are too obscure, and not having stats or rule can be problematic. also dominatrix is a unique unit right? anyway, not saying i definitely won't make them, but lets just put them in the maybe list. i would rather finish up the rest of the stuff first before considering them.
