Folks,
Only new to the game so apologies if this question has been covered before.
In Triumph of Nations
P158 it states that the minimum number of units in a Division is 3.
P 159 it goes on to discuss max and min in a Division (discussing reserve Cav for example).
My confusion lies when reading P 158 and P 159.
Question - irrespective of Min / Max unit types must every Division have a minimum of 3 units.
Cheers in Advance
Dave

Re: Minimum number of units in a Division
We are talking about two different types of mimima here. The general rule as you say is a minimum of three units per division - except where a list says otherwise- eg the 1792-95 French in Emperors and Eagles are required to have four.loadmaster666 wrote:Folks,

On page 159 we are talking about maxima and minima for particular types of troops - not units - whether all in one division or not. This is where a division from one list is being " imported" to another list .If you were to apply the core troop type minima from the " exporting" list then, in most cases, it would be impossible to do it - as those troop type minima are set at the Corps level not the divisional level.
So page 159 sets out how to do that. ToN has quite a number of lists were you can do that should you wish. But the three units per Division minima still applies to the imported Division (and the four Divs per Corps max) and the units cannot be distributed among the other divisions of the main list being used
This is all designed to ensure that the orders of battle at the Corps level ( key point) that result are not absurd or heavily skewed in composition in historical terms and to facilitate the construction of standard sized armies for games.
