Prussian 1813 Artillery - attachments

Post by thornoo1 »

I'm very new to FOGN and am trying to get my head around the attachment restrictions. On page 132 of the main rulebooks it says Artillery is one per division, am I to read that as infantry, mixed AND Cavalry divisions?

Welcome to FOG(N) .The limitation of one artillery unit and /or one artillery attachment per division is subject to individual lists some of which allow more than one ( although not usually artillery attachments) and some of which have none. So the general rule of one per artillery unit per division applies unless a list says otherwise. Attachments are always covered by the attachment table at the bottom of each list.Happy to explain the reasoning if that helps.

In addition any list is subject to a historical order of battle that one may set out to model. At the back of the list books and in the main rulebook we explain how to construct historical orders of battle from raw data. The notes to a list will say of it was based on a specific order of battle. Many are generic or " blends " but some - in 1812 for example - draw on from a specific Corps.

It is also the case that in any list in the main rulebook is overtaken by the equivalent list in the two books of lists. The rulebook was published many months before either of the lists books and we had to include some even while we still writing them to give folks something to have a go with.

If you are new to FOG(N) I suggest you download the up to date ( Dec 2014) errata and clarification sheets and updated QRS from the main Slitherine website. They will help with some questions you may have. Others you can often find in various threads on the site.
