mixed units

Post by Strategiser »

Just a quick question on mixed units please.

Some army lists specify that you can (and in some cases you even must) combine two different troop types into the same unit. Now, as mentioned in the Appendix of the Triumph of Nations, these mixed units should consist of troops having the same élan and training. However, they are also sometimes very different types (e.g. Light Cavalry mixed with Heavy Cavalry in the same unit, as is the case in (for example) the Swiss Corps 1815 where the Dragoons (Heavy Cavalry) can only be used as part of a mixed small unit with 2 bases of Hussars (Light Cavalry).

How do the rules work in such cases? Which troop type do you take as the basis for that unit when determining different modifiers and other rules-specific matters? Could you also please direct me to the right page(s) in the rulebook for this explanation?

Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks! :)

And I suppose that unit in my example would move 8MU in open (as opposed to 10MU). Correct?
