Suggestion themes for the 2015 season
Hi,
As we enter the 2015 season, I thought I would throw in my 1p worth for a theme suggestion. "King James II and all who hate/love him" due credit must be given to Will Denham for thinking of the phrase... I was think +/- n years around 1685...
Worth a spin, even for one of the 1 day events?

Re: Suggestion themes for the 2015 season
Nigel,
The question is do you set an end date of 1688 (the Glorious Revolution) or include the Battle of the Boyne or even 1700 as the preparations for the Jacobite uprising of 1715 would have been underway.

I quite like the idea for an "Average Joe's" theme, where all the BG's must be either average or poor except for say one superior unit who would count as "Guard"!

How about an even more extreme "Average Joe"?quackstheking wrote:I quite like the idea for an "Average Joe's" theme, where all the BG's must be either average or poor except for say one superior unit who would count as "Guard"!

Max 1 Superior/Elite.
Each 2 Average BG must have at least 1 Poor BG.
6 Foot Battle Troop bases for each Medium or Heavy Artillery base.

To go 2:1 on average would cut out a lot of lists potentionally...steads wrote:How about an even more extreme "Average Joe"?quackstheking wrote:I quite like the idea for an "Average Joe's" theme, where all the BG's must be either average or poor except for say one superior unit who would count as "Guard"!

How about, for each poor battlegroup of atleast 4 bases you are allowed to bring an extra superior unit of the same number of bases?

Nigel
There are only 27 (out of 144) lists that have less than 4 Poor BGs available to them directly or through allies. Ten of those are in Book 6 and a further 5 from Book 4, including of course the Mongols!
And yes I have been through all 6 books today as I am trying to avoid an unpleasant work task that has to be finished by tomorrow!!

Re: Suggestion themes for the 2015 season
Thought I'd give this thread a "bump" to see if there's been any further thoughts on the theme. I think "The Glorious Revolution" would give a few armies, especially if you allowed potential invaders such as Late Dutch or Danes, and Early/Middle Louis XIV. Keep the elites/superiors down and limit the artillery to light/regimental guns and you might have an interesting one-day competition.

Looks like this is one periods at Milton Keynes this year (albeit renamed Friends and Enemies of Charles II)
