Post Campaign Summary - Share your war stories!

Post by TShirtFlashlight »

I was thinking of doing a summary report like those post battle reports in Warhammer 40k magazines. It will be very interesting to see what other players have in their army lists (especially for Hard/Very Hard difficulties) at the last mission of the campaign. So without further ado, here is my army list at the last mission of Act 3 :

Adeptus Titanicus

x1 Reaver Battle Titan

Imperial Guard

x1 Baneblade (Upgraded) - Serving since Act 1
x1 Banesword (Upgraded)
x3 Leman Russ Demolishers
x3 Destroyer (Upgraded)
x3 Basilisk Armageddon Pattern
x1 Salamander Scout

x1 Steel Legion Company Command
x1 Steel Legion Mortar Support - Serving since Act 1
x6 Steel Legion Infantry - Cannon fod- I mean , the vanguard of the Steel Legion :)

Adeptus Astartes

x1 Captain Tycho - He ended with lower EXP than what he started with due to high casualties :?
x1 Sanguinary Guard - Hidden Gem
x1 Blood Angel Sternguard Veterans
x1 Blood Angel Terminator Squad with Assault Cannon
x1 Blood Angel Scout Squad

x1 Blood Angel Land Raider Achilles
x1 Blood Angel Hellfire Dreadnought -Swapped to Furioso Dreadnought in urban maps
x2 Blood Angel Predator Annihilator
x1 Blood Angel Predator Destructor

x1 Ultramarine Hellfire Dreadnought
x1 Ultramarine Command Squad
x1 Ultramarine Devastator Squad with Heavy Bolters

x1 Salamander Firedrakes
x1 Salamander Centurion Assault Squad with Heavy Flamers

MVP - Baneblade (Upgraded)

Veteran tank unit since Act 1. Where other tank units get blown to bits, this tank unit managed to survive Act 1 nearly unscathed and with full EXP before being upgraded to the Baneblade in Act 2. Highest unit kill count in the campaign.

Honorable Mention - Sanguinary Guard

Fought very well against Titans and Super Heavy Tanks. Deals about 10++ damage per attack against these units. Have 5 Titan kills, which is more than the Baneblade's 3 Titan kills and on par with the Reaver Titan's 5 Titan kills.

Casualties List

x1 Sentinel
x1 Basilisk - Tried to outrun Ork Sluggas on rough terrain.
x20!!! Salamander Scout Vehicle - This wouldn’t be so high if Scout units can double move. Their blood is on your hands , devs!

x4 Leman Russ Demolisher - Tried to take on a Super Heavy Tank
x1 Leman Russ Vanquisher - ^
x3 Destroyer - ^

x2 Steel Legion Company Command - Led by example by charging first into melee
x4 Steel Legion Fire Support
x1 Steel Legion Mortar Support
x1 Steel Legion Special Weapons Flamers
x18 Steel Legion Infantry - They died so that the Space Marines and precious Tanks might live. Shouldn’t it be the other way around?
x4 Steel Legion Conscripts

x1 Ultramarine Land Speeder - My first & last attempt at trying a flying scout unit.
x2 Ultramarine Command Squad - I named one squad "Captain Titus" in hopes of replicating a feat in another Warhammer 40k game. I was so wrong.
x1 Ultramarine Centurion Assault Squad

x1 Blood Angel Land Raider Achilles - The Orks suddenly dared to focus fire on a Super Heavy unit instead of the juicy Steel Legion Infantry a few hexes away. Really weird behavior.
x2 Blood Angel Scout Squad
x1 Blood Angel Stormraven - I deleted this unit after it lost 2 members to traitor Ratling snipers fire :x

So what is your army unit composition at the end of Act 3? Do share their tales of glory & valor. :D

That's really cool. Gives me some idea of the game to come and how I might plan things. I am somewhere in Act I, but because my graphics card is old, I can't scroll down to see the new tanks. I may never buy a baneblade sadly... I wondered if someone like yourself who has completed the game could produce a campaign tree - they are always popular. At the moment I have no idea where I am and what awaits me!

Another question for you - I noticed some people saying 'why not have all titans'. Obviously you only took one. Was that the best way to survive the game, or were your choices mainly guided by reasons of authenticity?

Cheers!

You can always view the Scenario maps for the list of campaign missions , but I wouldn't recommend that. Part of the fun is venturing into the unknown. :)

I was tempted to take 1 Reaver + 2 Warhound Titans at first but I read from other people posts that Ork units are somewhat reluctant to attack your Titans or Super Heavy Tanks. (I guess due to poor trades.. They deal 1 damage but take 10 in return. So when my Land Raider got destroyed I was really surprised). Having 3 Titans walking around the battlefield will make most battles too easy as the Orks will actually end the turn without doing anything if there are no other squishy units to shoot at. 1 is just nice enough for the challenge , a Reaver is powerful but it cant take on the Ork swarm alone.

Also I was partly following Epic rules where Titans cant take more than 10% ? or 20% ? of your total army costs.

This, so much times. I basically use scouts as one-time units, because they every time they spot a large number of enemies.

That's so sad...nothing can kill Captain Titus, not even exposure to the Warp!

We should get hold of the devs and demand that: any unit named in his honour get +100 Armor and +5 hits per unit.
