Points Revision
After a bit of discussion with Richard I am minded to have a chat with the publishers about the possibility of updating the points system of FoG:R - along the lines that were discussed a year or so back.
However, before I do that I'd just like to gauge whether players think this would be a worthwhile exercise and would be of benefit to the game or not. One factor to consider is that it would, of course, render the points values printed in the list books incorrect and, as republishing is both out of the question and (I suspect) undesirable to players on a cost basis, they would have to be published by means of some sort of update sheet rather as errata are. Would this be an issue?
Your feedback would be very much appreciated.

Re: Points Revision
A finely embellished update sheet would be fine with me. So, one yes vote..........

Re: Points Revision
I think a perfect world would be where the books are all gethered up and replaced by Slitherine free of charge.
We don't live in a perfect world, so I think an Erratta sheet would be fine.
Most people I know use spreadsheets to calculate their army points anyway, so it would just be a matter of adjusting their spreadsheet and going back to using the lists for min-maxes.
Go for it, I say.
Any thought on how long a decision would take? The reason I ask is that I have CanCon atthe end of January so would like to draw a line in the sand. I.e. if any chance of a decision before 15th, then I'd probably go with the new points. Otherwise I think logistically it's too close to get lists checked.

Re: Points Revision
It would be nice to see the points changes that you will be proposing. I can't remember seeing an overall consensus in any one thread.

I'm painting a couple of hundred Gendarmes, maybe then I will be able to afford to field them.

No chance of anything by then so stick with the current pointsravenflight wrote: Any thought on how long a decision would take? Care to publish a draft list or the main changes here to remind people?

Re: Points Revision
At present I'm looking to assess whether players think it is a good idea rather than look at specifics as those would need some serious thrashing out. Are you in favour or not is the important question for me at present - so .... ?
However, last year's topic is still stickied so available for refreshing memories as to the areas that were being looked at then.

Had a look for a sticky topic but it alluded me. Can you help with a link? Thanks.nikgaukroger wrote:However, last year's topic is still stickied so available for refreshing memories as to the areas that were being looked at then.
Re: Points Revision
As suggested it would be useful if all the proposed points changes were set out in this topic before any finely embellished update sheet is published.

Re: Points Revision
It would be most helpful if people could just answer the question at present - specifics would come later and need to be thrashed out.
So what I need to know is whether the community would be OK with an update that would invalidate some parts of their books incorrect being promulgated by some sort of update/errata sheet. If the community is OK with this idea I will approach the publishers, if not I won't - and I'm not spending time on what may well be a dead end until I have a feel as to what you lot would be happy with.
However, for those who are interested in what was previously discussed on a wholly unofficial and non-binding thread go to - viewtopic.php?f=70&t=45268 - caveat that should anything come of this the result may not bear the slightest resemblance to that topic as it will all need working through properly. Probably best to see this as a possible starting point.

Yes, I think it would be a good idea and an errata sheet would be fine. As has been said, most of us just use the lists for min/max and a spreadsheet to crunch the numbers.

Re: Points Revision
Nik, for what it is worth I am fine with an Errata / Amendments sheet (call it what you will) that revises the points and amends all 7 books that I own.
Re: Points Revision
Myself and the two guys I'm playing regularly are perfectly fine with an errata sheet.

Re: Points Revision
I'd say that's what you'd call 'overwhelming support'
