What is Field of Glory™?
Field of Glory™ www.fieldofglory.com is a wargaming rules system that uses model figures and terrain to recreate the great battles of the ancient and medieval world, written by some of the biggest names in the wargaming community, including the co-author of the popular DBM rules, Richard Bodley Scott. Field of Glory™ allows players to use Wargames Factory miniatures to re-fight historical scenarios or create their own “what if” battles. It is now on general release along with three companion books, Rise of Rome, Storm of Arrows and Immortal Fire. These books, which are the first of many, focus on specific time periods or geographical regions in the ancient and medieval world, giving historical overviews and comprehensive army lists for all of the major and minor powers.
Field of Glory™ is the first set of wargames rules that has been designed for and made available to a wide audience and will be available from traditional Hobby outlets to mass market booksellers. The game is set to revolutionize historical wargaming, with first print run having sold out worldwide!

Well I signed up and took my 50/50 guess and missed out, so I signed up a friend (yes I do have some!) to get my bonus go and guessed the other option and still missed out :?
I hope this isn't a Zimbabwean election we have here...

Don't worry Dave, you can always try again tomorrow and the day after and the next one. It is free after all.

Elsewhere on the WF site there are now release dates for the first of the 28mm boxes with the legionaries due in a couple of months and the celts the month after that. There is also a list of immediate future plans...

I certainly will do that! Congrats to Slitherine, Osprey and WF for offering a very attractive set of prizes!

Perhaps my recent trot of bad dice luck means I'm due to win big elsewhere??;-p
Lotto here I come! I'd settle for the main prize in this comp however

I did not win either, I would be interested to know how many people have won anything yet?

There maybe two options to choose from but I think the chance of winning is far less than 50%

Looks like an election in certain 3rd world countries (and florida) to me :)

Hmmm.... after all this stuff posted by JDM on the site about copyright, I must say this "new" game seems remarkably similar to my mini-online-DBM-era simulator game thingy.....

Madaxeman's Ancient Wargames Simulation Online Game

Maybe there are no new ideas out there after all !!

No shortage of those. Most, if not all, libraries also have internet access, which is often free. Even tiny outback towns have libraries, although they are sometimes piggy-backed on school libraries.

Same here. I grabbed Great Battles of Rome, it's not bad - comparisons to the Total War series are valid despite Slitherine's protest :) I agree with others who say adding experience points and skills to a wargame doesn't really justify using the word Roleplay when describing it. If the Total War games are DBM then Great Battles is DBA ~ fast and fun but not particularly deep. Good for a quick game or three when you have some spare time, but not worth staying up late for. Overall it's fun but I'm glad I got it on the cheap.

BTW; I haven't needed any light infantry yet and I'm about half way through. Also, light cavalry seem to do well against elephants in rivers :P it wasn't part of my battleplan but worked out fairly well when it happened (thanks to a broken Legate)... I don't know if I'd risk it again!

You're not the only one - there's obviously a bias against South Yorkshiremen.
