How playable is this game on Windows Tablet ?

Post by razzafazza »

Hey guys !

As the title says i m wondering whether this game is well playable on a Windows Tablet and with that i dont mean one of those with ultrabook specs (surface pro etc.) but cheaper tablets that use bay trail processors and have only 1-2 GB of RAM. ( dell venue 8 pro , hp stream, asus transformer book etc. )

1) is performance okay or is there long loading times etc. ?

2) how well does the UI work with touch controls or would one need to use a mouse with the tablet ?

Thanks in advance and merry christmas to everyone !

I've played it on the Surface Pro 3 without any issues. Can't say how it would fare on a weaker machine. However, the touch controls work for the most part - with the exception of the right click being a bit of a pain.

I've been playing Armdageddon on a recently purchased HP Stream 7 (x86 Atom, Win 8.1, 1GB RAM) - it works perfectly, it's quick, no latency..basically you wouldn't know you were playing it on a low spec machine.

With regards to touch functionality - as mentioned below, right click is a pain (unless you have a keyboard with touchpad attached), other than that it's absolutely fine and plays well.

You may also be interested to know (or not lol) that I've also streamed it via Steam from my main PC, which doesn't work as well as running natively on the device (issues with detected location of touch vs pointer location).

Also, also, Steam Big Picture Mode isn't designed for touch, so navigating that without a keyboard is also a bit cumbersome (I actually do it, though, and have an Xbox360 controller connected to the tablet via USB for navigating BPM from time to time). Again, this isn't a reflection on the game, but it's something to consider.

So anyway, yes, you can play Armageddon happily on a sub-£100 HP Stream, on the go, whenever you like :) (THAT'S THE ENTIRE REASON I PURCHASED IT!)
