Similar to other BA2 games. You can pick the map size and force size separately. The game generates a random map from general settings i.e. farmland, wilderness ect but with the advanced setting you can set the preference for certain terrain textures.

You get points to choose your units but some units are already set; essentially you are adding to them.

I can't really comment on the AI but I haven't seen it do anything stupid. Basically 'So far so good'.... I've played a few small skirmishes and had fun ... won them all but not without casualties.
