Lostwithiel tactics
Is it worthwhile attacking the heavy Royalist fortification on the left flank or should I just stay away from it?
Re: Lostwithiel tactics
I have played this battle several times, but nevet quite succeeded. In my opinion the Royalist stronghold should be given a wide berth. You need to fight your way of the map to the east and the stronghold is just a distraction. I think the best tactic is to concentrate the attack against the Royalist left, while launching a secondary holding attack on their right. Not managed to get it right yet though.....
Edited, couldn't tell my Roundheads from my cavaliers......

Avoid that castle or whatever it is. There's nothing to be gained by attacking it and much to be lost if you get caught in the rear once the Royalist horse etc. arrives.
The aim of the exercise is getting the Parliamentary army (or as much as possible of it) off the field. Fighting Royalists is secondary to that.
A few thoughts on approaches that have worked for me - a sacrificial infantry regiment left behind on the Eastern end of the bridge in the town can work wonders at slowing the Royalist reinforcements when they turn up. Often it takes ages for the AI to fight its way across the bridge.
A fast move by the bulk of the Parliamentary horse aimed at the other bridge past the castle can also help if you are trying to defeat the Royalist foot so long as you can beat the regiment holding it before the Royalists catch you. Sneaking a regiment into that Royalist regiment's rear can help.
Alternatively try and avoid combat and slide your army past the Royalist left. Expect to lose your artillery though (too slow).

Hi All
Very confused- where do I have to move my troops to to end the scenario? Which location? do they move off the visible map?

Move them into the last row on the right hand side of the map. (The Eastern edge if you toggle on the compass in Advanced Options). (i.e. The direction most of your forces start off facing). Then they will exit the map.Jumpytuna88 wrote:Hi All
