Medieval Currency

Post by IainMcNeil »

We're looking for some advice on medieval currencies. If you had to pick a currency to cover a western medieval setting. which would be the best bet?

Something like Florins?

Florin is a coin worth 2 shillings

A Groat was a coin worth 4 english or Scottish Pennies

The name Penny has existed as a silver coin since the anglo-saxon period, and the reason why there were 240 to the pre-decimal pound is the "pennyweight" was 1/240 of a pound

Thanks - I think Florins or Ducats sound best so there are no major issues with these names we'll try it out and see which works best in game :)

This doesn't have anything to do with the future possible Campaign supplement, does it?
