Transports attacking with infantry

Happy thanksgiving everybody! I'm very thankful to the devs for this great game right now.

The topic of this thread is my only gripe with it. I wish my chimeras could attack along with my infantry in the same combat round. That would give guard infantry a use aside from the tar-pit/mop-up assault role it has now. Could somebody also clarify how damage transfers from one mode to another? If I lose 1/7 transports does that mean that I also lose 1/7 of my infantry? How does it round?
