Missing units?
I am wondering what happened to the Tempestus Scions/Stormtrooper, the Ogryns and the Psyker Battle squad, these 3 aren't exactly obscure units (the Scions get mentionned by the Inquisitor, all three are from the IG codex, not some hidden Forgeworld pdf) it just feels weird not to see them when you got stuff like the Firedrake or the Leman Russ pattern #50.

Re: Missing units?
I think Scions are excuseable, as we have Steel Legion. Scions are more a general pattern of Guard, whereas SL are very specific. Storm Troopers I guess, it's weird. The Steel Legion would certainly have elite units like that. Not sure if they'd use Ogryns but I'm not overly fussed by their absence. I mean we have Rough Riders lel.
As for Pyskers, I'm not sure I remember them being used too much with Steel Legion. Certainly after the first war I imagine Armageddon is a spectacularly unpleasant place to be if you're a psyker. That could explain their absence.
Frankly the sheer abundance of untis is good enough for now, they can hopefully add our storm trooprs, scions and pyskers later. That or they get modded in
Patience I think.

Maybe they are reserved for an expansion?

Re: Missing units?
Well, Scions and Stormtroopers are the same, but if memory serves me right, the metal stormtroopers model came out at the same time as the Steel Legion line of models, furthermore they have the Stormtrooper doctrine, or well had, in an older IG codex.
The psyker pretty much pop on every planet, so there's really no reason not to have them, I think, besides if it was possible for them to psychy stuff, it'd be nice.
I could see why the Ogryns would be left out, sicne the Steel Legion is heavily mechanized, and they're afraid of going in vehicle, I doubt they'd be very popular amongst Steel Legion commanders.

Maybe, but its kinda weird to hold on these guys, it'd be like the SM not having Sternguards or Vanguards.ColTrautman wrote:Maybe they are reserved for an expansion?

Re: Missing units?
The stormtroors is the only bit I don't get.
Perhaps they thought the bridge to elite infantry lies with the Astartes units?
Regular infantry/Steel Legion then elite infantry Tactical Marines?
No reason not to have a bridge, inbetween, with improved from SL but worse from SM stats.

Re: Missing units?
Also, if we could Deep Strike stuff, they'd give that option for the Steel Legion.

Re: Missing units?
Deep striking could surely be modded in?
You could put deployment zones and restrict them to drop-pod enabled units (chosen how you choose rhinos/chimeras for infantry) and blap. Deep striked.

Re: Missing units?
Yeah I though the whole thing up earlier.
Basically, you add deep-strike to the following
Terminators
Jump pack anything
Drop-pods*
Stormtroopers if they ever show up
They got special deployement zones that show up after a few turns, or not, I'd prefer to wait, personally, they stay in your reserves in the meanwhile, then you send them in.
*Basically, the pod drops where you selected, creates a certain amount of deployement zone where you can put down any infantry, not only deep-strike able stuff.

Really, where? I've looked through the files and the editor, they don't show up.
Re: Missing units?
Hmm, indeed. They sure were included in the beta. I need to find out what happened to them.bobthehero wrote:Really, where? I've looked through the files and the editor, they don't show up.
