Noise in speakers (FPS runs amok)

Post by EagleMountainDK »

Hi,

I get an annoying sound at the story screens and purchasing/upgrading units. The sound go away as soon as I return to the map. Its like a distant beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep sound a little like white noise.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for a great game!

Cheers
Mark

Edit: Changed the title to reflect its FPS related.

This is an odd one - not heard anything like that.

I haven't seen anyone else report it either. Not sure what to suggest :(

I can try to capture it so you can see/hear what I mean :)

I try to capture it with Nvidia's Shadow play and my FPS counter shows around 705 when the map is visible and 3725 when I'm in the Purchase menu.... Is it possible to force vsync somehow?

We could not repro this issue on our side, so if you could record it, this would help to better understand the issue.

I'm having a little trouble capturing and just tried Fraps. The FPS goes too the roft and the sound starts. I then start recording and it forces the frame rate to 60 and the sound go away.

OK, so looks like the issue is indeed related to excessive frame rate. We'll look into this. Thanks for report.

I think it's the same issue as in here:

It happens with some games, specially when on menus.

In the mean time you can try to limit FPS using one of the methods described in that thread VPaulus linked too. Let us know if this solves the noise issue.

I can't get it to work, so I will wait for 1) an updated driver from Nvidia or 2) you give us the option of enabling vsync in the options.

Ahhhh much better. The 1.02 patch's: "• Added FPS limitation (50 FPS max) " is a winner for me - thanks guys!
