Xyston figures for Hellenic/Carthaginian Cav?

Post by Agesilaus »

I am trying to paint up some extra figures for my Greek army that would allow it (especially the hoplites and skirmishers) to also be used for running a Hellenistic (maybe Pyrrhic, Macedonian) or especially a Carthaginian army. I realise I will need to get some pike to run Pyrrhic and Macedonian, but that can wait. I am also getting some Spanish and Gaulic figures which can be used for the ring-ins. This just leaves the cavalry.

The question is, are there some Xyston figures that would do for both later Hellenistic and also Carthaginian cavalry? i.e. Armoured Cavalry (with the round shield I presume) with Light Spear and Unarmoured Light Horse (again with smaller round shield I presume) also with Javelin//Light Spear.

If anyone knows this, please specify Xyston figure codes if possible. All teh rest of teh army is already Xyston or AB (big figures, 16 to 18mm tall) so I am not interested in other manufacturers for thsi.

thanks for any advice

The ANC20079-Paionian Cavalry are a pretty good all round converter as they are quite basic LH and you could check out the sheild packs to add ones you like. Also swopping the heads is not very difficult with a knife, drill, small bit and some super glue.

Thanks Will. I have ordered some Paionians and some small shields (phalangite shields actually) which should match the Carthaginian cavalry reasonably.
