Light horse evade

Post by switze01 »

Hi

Played a game on Tuesday when lh had to evad through cavalry

ll

ccc

l = light horse
c =cav
Even thought they moved 1 base to the right they couldn't avoid the cav
Now this means they burst through and disorder the cav
Is this correct and if so if make it difficult to deploy the horse as skirmishers
in front of the other cavalry

Hi Steve

That is correct so either leave at least 9 MU between your LH and your Cav or ensure there are always sufficient gaps for your LH to evade through.

Or position the LH at an angle so that if they evade to their rear, they won't go through the cavalry.

Expounding. You can also leave a 1 BW gap and the LH can collapse into a column and go through.

But you can only collapse from the front base, after the evade VMD, to the back, which places the last base dangerously close the the charging BG. I caught some Seljuk Turk LH that had to thread the needle last Tuesday - they vaporised in the JAP pursuit.
