DO CALTROPS COUNT AS FIELD DEFENCES N?
IF SO CAN TROOPS BE FORCXED TO ADVANCE OR PERSUE ACROSST THEIR OWN CALTROPS AND TAKE LOSSES?

There is no specific representation of caltrops in FoG, they are subsumed in the overall gradings.

As a result there are no rules for how they work.

I think that the various bad experiences from 7th edition of late Roman legionaries with heavy throwing spear, javelins, darts, caltrops etc. have left significant scars in the minds of some of the rules team.
