Newbie question I cant quite clarify to my satisfaction from the rules.
I have 2 units of cav next to each other and an opposing cav unit declares a charge on one of them. The target must countercharge and I want the other unit to intercept (so as to fight one unit with two). Do both happen? In what order? What are the wheeling options available to the original charger to avoid ending in contact with both?
Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Re: Countercharge/intercept
It has but it's not 100% settled. I'm leaning to intercepts cancels counter charge .I would like to be able to counter charge with both but I think we have to keep things as simple as possible. One possible tactic is to approach really close so the counter charge of half the distance is such that you still count the other unit for flank support. Either that or position for rear support (with 6Mu so closer than 2Mu and the counter charge wont take them out of support range)

Re: Countercharge/intercept
An intercept is only valid if it will prevent the charging unit from contacting the target. Therefore the original target is not counter-charging.marty wrote:Newbie question I cant quite clarify to my satisfaction from the rules.

A declares charges and target
B declares intercept and moves it.
C original target does not move.

Have a look at this thread:

This is a slight departure from the rules as they appear in the book, but Hazelbark is correct. Terry wrote that the next errata should include a change so that a successful intercept will cancel any counter-charge.

Re: Countercharge/intercept
Here's hoping the new errata comes out before Cancon at the end of January.
