I'm sure lists will be done, however, the Dark Ages in the west are not in the the initial tranche of books Osprey are publishing so when they will appear is uncertain at present IMO.

Some of these will be covered in Legions Triumphant - at least those with armies that existed before about 500AD. Others will have to wait until 2009 I'm afraid.

I was thinking of doing up some army lists based on the Bernard Cornwell trilogy, best Arthur stories out there I think, not sure what it would contain at the minute, but lots of Shieldwalls and a little Cav

Intersting lists

Not sure about the Saxon peasent spearmen being undrilled, from my experience all armies at that time would have been able to form shieldwalls, so I am not sure under the rules if that counts them being drilled or not , I have only got the rules so slowly reading through them, but the Peasant/Fyrd or whatever you want to call them I would think would act the same as the Noble warriors just not as well protected and as experienced

Drilled is reserved for units approaching the capability of a marching band at an American Football match. So I would expect Saxon Fyrd and Nobles all to be undrilled.

Note that Impact Foot and Light Spear are mutually exclusive, you can be one or the other but not both. Impact Foot is reserved for troops with a historical reputation for a fierce charge or that used a short sharp preparatory bombardment with heavy throwing weapons, neither of which applies to the Irish.

If the Fianna numbers are that low, I doubt they would be represented as a separate BG. I also doubt that they would be iincluded as separate elements in other BGs, so they would not be represented at all. That leaves the army as essentially all Medium Foot, Average, Protected, Undrilled, light spear, swordsmen.

Superior skirmishers: If these were translated from DBM Ps(S) then they should probably be LF average unprotected javelin. The common skirmishers would be the same or poor. From what I've seen, FoG lumps 99% of foot skirmishers into "LF unprotected average" regardless of DBM classification, except quite a few have the option to be poor. Also I think you could increase the numbers a bit.

I used a version of this army in a beta-test tournament at Leeds a couple of years ago. My army was set in the period before the Chariots and Attecotti disappeared, which made it a bit more interesting.

I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT THE IMPACT FOOT/LIGHT SPEAR THING. BUT I WOULD STILL RETAIN THE FIANNA.
IN THE ARMY I AM LOOKING AT AT PREASENT, THEY MAKE A TWO BASE UNIT, NOT MUCH BUT THEY CAN FULLFILL A SIMILAR ROLE TO THE EARLY REPUBLICAN TRIARI SMALL UNITS.
I THINK I WILL MAKE THE COMMON SPERMEN, LIGHT SPEAR, BUT RETAIN THE FIANNA AS IMPACT FOOT, AS THEY LIKE THE HUSCARLS AND COMMIATENSIS, TYPE TROOPS ARE THE CLOSEST THING TO REGULAR TROOPS, AVAILABLE TO THE SCOTTI/IRISH.
