Beta 3 Feedback
Hey gang,
I played for a bit tonight with the new Beta 3. Overall things seem a bit better, but there are still some issues.
Nothing in the deployment screen shows how many units you can have (Panzercorps has X/Y at the top of the column I believe.) It does show how many slots you have (which should say something like open or remaining) on the purchase screen.
There is a fairly large story step between Tutorial 2 and Tutorial 3 that does not flow from a narrative point of view. It is just like "Poof" Orks!
The messages from Trelssa during the Tutorial missions seem oddly timed. Maybe better in pre-game banter?
I am still seeing instances of fire animation from empty hexes that the attacker then moves into.
I still think the transport system may need revised if possible in this engine.
All the fire animations for a unit are still the same, even if they are firing different weapons. I really think this needs reviewed. Seeing a Basilisk fire the big cannon at me when I am right next to it is a bit disconcerting. I know it is really the heavy bolter, but it sure does not look like it.
Some units still fire from the wrong spot or in the wrong direction. I see it most on Destroyers where the lascannon shot will cut directly across the hex obscuring the tank.
Ammo currently seems to have no effect nor run out.
And on the good side, I also see lots of improvement.
I love the end of turn thing that was added. Great stuff.
I had no crashes
The turn notification at the start of each turn is also really nice
The new font is very clean and there are apostrophes.
I like the new longer names for scenarios in the scenario list
Seems easier to track enemy troop movements and fire (still some issues but better.)
Overall I have a great feeling about this game. With a few improvements I really think it could be one of the greats for Warhammer 40K.
Thanks,
Duncan

The Warhammer 40K games all need more T'au Empire units.
Re: Beta 3 Feedback
Thanks for feedback. We are going to address most of the issues you are describing. So far our focus was on gameplay, so that you guys can play more of the content without game-breaking issues, but visual representation remains a bit lacking - we'll handle that next!
However, I'm not sure what to do with that story gap you mention. I agree it is a bit sudden, looks like we've missed it, because this game has a lot, and I mean A LOT of text.
But all text is already frozen, and voice overs recorded by now, so not easy to fix. Any suggestions are welcome.

--------------------------------------------
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU 2.83GHz
3GB Ram
32 bit Windows 7 SP1
Nvidea GeForce GTX 560 Ti 512Mb
--------------------------------------------
Bugs
1) 11th Steel Legion Rough Riders still have no sound or visual FX when shooting.
2) Still issues with some units having wrong orientation visual FX when shooting in certain directions.
3) No music in game. Music in menus is very quiet.
4) Still cannot scroll the Unit List using the buttons or dragging the scroll bar.
Suggestions
1) In the purchase/upgrade screen. When comparing units can we have better stats shown in green and worsened stats in red (like in Panzer Corps)
2) As far as I can tell there is still no weather implementation. Is this correct?
3) When infantry have transport vehicles:-
5) On the main game side bar. When a unit is selected can a button be added to the panels which when pressed opens up a unit card detailing the units complete stats and traits. Maybe also have a second tab on this unit card which will show the selected unit awards and battle history.
Thanks and keep up the good work

3) When infantry have transport vehicles:-
- - When infantry are not being transported by the transport vehicle can the unit attack as both the infantry and the transport vehicle as one. That is, the unit inherits both the infantry weapons and the vehicle weapons and so attacks as such.
- When infantry are being transported by the vehicle then the unit attacks as just the vehicle.
- When the infantry unit wishes to enter a building, the vehicle becomes a separate unit that can only move around the building hex. If this is not possible then the infantry cannot enter building.
- When infantry wishes to exit building they must do so via the hex containing their transport vehicle. If their transport vehicle is destroyed (while they are in the building) then they become just an infantry unit with no transport vehicle.

Are the in mission text and pop up frozen too?
Otherwise, the information about the orks landing could be given during the mission itself. Or there could be some ork transport crashing, and the tutorial mission would change to investigate the ork crash site.
Re: Beta 3 Feedback
In mission text is "partially" frozen - character text will have voiceovers as well, so cannot change that, but of course we can show generic text messages.Galdred wrote:For the orks?

The problem with this particular place however is that the orks appear between outro and intro briefings. Essentially you have a post-mission briefing, then fadeout/fadein thingy, and pre-mission briefing already discusses the orks.

KenAllen
Thanks for feedback and bug reports, we'll work on those.
To answer your questions:
2) As far as I can tell there is still no weather implementation. Is this correct?
Yes, no weather yet.
3) When infantry have transport vehicles:-
I know transports can have different implementations, but what we have now is time proven (Panzer Corps used it, and in WW2 some transports also were potent vehicles on their own), very simple to use and understand, and balanced (infantry fighting alongside its transport could be a very powerful combination). We also keep transport option extra special, you need to decide if you invest money into a separate unit, or attached transport which does not take unit slot, but has limited use.
4) Are there any elevation bonuses in this game?
Not in beta 3.
5) On the main game side bar. When a unit is selected can a button be added to the panels which when pressed opens up a unit card detailing the units complete stats and traits. Maybe also have a second tab on this unit card which will show the selected unit awards and battle history.
This is in the works.

Re: Beta 3 Feedback
Thanks for the reply. I understand and agree with your reasons for keeping transport vehicles as in panzer corps. I am also glad of the unit card button detailing unit stats and traits. This will be extremely useful.
Re: Beta 3 Feedback
Now I know when the game go into the "black screen mode". My laptop goes to the energy save status and if I wake it up, the game screen is black. The game launcher is okay.

Re: Beta 3 Feedback
As in Beta 2:
* no animations if my units loses strength (only on one of my 2 Computers) <-- "SOLVED", these animations are only in the 1st beta included. I installed onnthese computer only beta 2&3
* shooting-animations are sometimes in the wrong hex
* during enemies turn, some battles are shown very short. I can not see, who attacks and how many strength the units loses. (Why not as in PanzerCorps to Show the losses as a number?)
* the direction of the animations ist often not the drirection to the target (2 hexes distance vertical - I expect the direction up and down. I know, the neighbur hexes culd not adjusted vertical). The animations are to long (Lasers). Cannons are okay
. Wyvern shot-animation wrong
