Re: Patch ETA
Hi Kevin,kdonovan wrote:Love the game.
What's the ETA on the 1st patch?
Is there any intention of releasing later 17th c expansions/mods?
Glad you like it.
The first patch should be in the next week or so. It includes various tweaks and bug fixes.
Currently the plan is for the first expansion to cover the period from the end of the Italian Wars until the Swedish entry into the Thirty Years War. Thus 1560-1629, including the period of the French Wars of Religion, the Dutch War of Independence and the Swedish-Polish wars amongst others. Including lots of armiies to use in Skirmish mode - over 30 army lists.
Other expansions will hopefully follow.
However, we would also like to see high quality mods covering periods that the game does not currently cover. If these are good enough, they may be adopted as official.

Re: Patch ETA
Its worth remembering here that any new module can only add up to 5 new armies. My guess is that to cover the ground already promised that "Tercio to Salvo" will need to add French Huguenot, French Catholic & Dutch armies but that it will be able to use the Spanish, Swedish and Poles from the core (30 Years War) module.
This would leave just 2 slots to play with if you wanted to max out the module. My guess is that as you would also want the English to fight the Scots as well as the Irish and its desirable to keep the number of duplicate armies in different modules down that adding in the Irish Wars might be a step do far this time.
My own "dream team" expansion module wish list would run something like this for the first 5 releases..
Module 1 "Tercio to Salvo". New armies = French Huguenot, French Catholic, Dutch Muscovites & Ukrainian Cossack. 30 Years War module armies expanded / used = Spanish, Swedish and Poles, Danes & Turks. Wars covered = French Wars Of Religion, Dutch Revolt, Nordic 7 Years War, Polish/Swedish early 17th Century Wars, Great Livonian War, Smolensk War, Ukrainian Cossack Rebellion.
Module 2 "The Enemy at the Gate" New armies = Hungarian, Safavid Persian, Mamluk, Mongolian (with horse tail standard icon flag and used for Tartars & Uzbeks) and German Protestant Peasant revolt. 30 Years War module armies expanded / Used = Spanish, and Poles, Danes Turks and HRE (also use for Princes forces in the German Protestant Peasant revolt. Wars covered = Ottoman ones with pretty much everybody else except the German Protestant Peasant Rebels up to 1650, Safavid wars with Uzbeks, Polish / Tartar wars and the German Protestant Peasant revolts.
Module 3 "Tudor & Celtic Wars" . New armies = English, Scottish, Irish (2 sets, one with a Gold Harp on a Green Flied unit icon flag and with a red Irish satire flag so they can also fight each other) and French. 30 Years War module armies expanded / used = Spanish Wars covered = Tudor was in Scotland, Ireland and expeditions to the continent, The Bishops War & the English Civil War in Ireland.
Module 4 "Mandate Of Heaven" New armies = Ming Chinese, Mongol (with horse tail standard icon flag and used for Northern Yuan and Dzungar dynasties) Korean, Manchu & Japanese. Wars covered = Ming Chinese / Mongol 16th centaury Wars, Japanese Invasion of Korea, Manchu conquest of China & Korea and the Munchu wars against the Dzungar Mongols.
Module 5 " Mughal Wars" New armies = Mughal, Mughal Clamant, (for the 17th Centuary Civil Wars) Rajputs, North Indian Muslim and Maratha = Wars covered = those of the Mughal's with everybody else and each other and the wars between the various none Mughal powers in India.
Guess I am just being very greedy here

Re: Patch ETA
The game can only consider 16 armies at one time and it needs to always keep the 11 armies in the 30 Years War module in mind.

This is the current situation. The engine ptogrammer is cuurently looking into whether this restriction can be removed.Hoplite1963 wrote:The game can only consider 16 armies at one time and it needs to always keep the 11 armies in the 30 Years War module in mind.

Re: Patch ETA
Hi Richard
This is good news. One way round the problem might be to keep the core module with its 16 army limit but built some sort of file swap system into the game triggered when opening different module sin the different elements of the game, Historical, Skirmish, Multiplayer & Editor. That way you could have up to 16 armies under consideration at any one time but all of them could be from your chosen module.
This would also mean that you would need to produce fewer but larger expansion modules than would be necessary with the current 5 army limit, to get the same coverage, which I guess would be more cost effective commercially.
Many thanks
Ian

Maybe so, but a fantastic list of suggestions nonetheless. Whatever direction Richard chooses to go in, I think the expansion of this game is a mouth-watering prospect!Hoplite1963 wrote: My own "dream team" expansion module wish list would run something like this for the first 5 releases..

Also I would like a module that covers the 100 Years War (1337-1453) between France and England.Hoplite1963 wrote:Its worth remembering here that any new module can only add up to 5 new armies.
