How do you win the Zama Scenario? What are the victory conditions? I either destroy the Carthaginian army or I kill Hannibal I have not been able to do both. If I destroy the army first Hannibal seems to become unkillable. I've had the guy surrounded by three full units and he still came out ahead. And if I take out Hannibal early in the game, the rest of the army becpmes almost unbreakable. Its like I don't have enough units to break the Carthaginian army in a quick enough manner to gain victory. Thanks for any help

How to win the Zama scenario?

Have you got eleven good units? It took me a while to work out how to win consistently, but it can be done very comfortably within time and without getting *close* to losing.
I won't go into too much detail, but I line up all bar one unit on the left (the other mystery unit is in a mystery location
). All units are on a long hold, bar one aux archer who I send after his static heavy infantry on his extreme right flank...
And yes, I know you'll have worked it out for yourself by now.

The victory conditions are win in under 300 minutes, which should be more than enough time. Nonetheless, Hannibal has a potent force here, spread out in his classic weak center, strong flanks deployment. My strategy has been to try to be sure the bulk of the battle happens on the ridge, where Hannibal's best troops will be at a disadvantage, particularly his cavalry.
My 4 legions charge the left flank, supported by archers, hoping to mop up that side in time to then engage in the main battle on the ridge line.
My 2 heavy cav charge their skirmishers and archers on the left side of their ridge contingent, hoping to disrupt them and keep them from doing too much damage to my main line troops. Disengage immediately. They then skulk around the edges, looking for chances to engage skirmishers or archers, then finally charge in to the main battle line from behind.
Meanwhile, my 3 aux are staking out the ridge line. These boys have the toughest assignment as they have to hold out long enough for the legions to defeat the left flank and then move to support. The aux end up routing, but it is no disgrace to them.
It ends up as a scrum. it ain't pretty but it works.

The thing about Zama is the missile troops, imho
This is what does the trick for me..
Army:
1xLegate
3xLegionnary
3xAuxArchers
2xSkirms/Velites
2xAuxiliae
1xAuxCav
The 2xAux charges forward in the rugged terrain, to clear the enemy skirmishers. After that, their job is to fight until they break & run.
The AuxCav charges forward on the left flank, to clear the enemy Archers opposed to them. They are aided in this by an ArchUnit that pours fire upon them. After that, all the enemy center should be drawn into the battle with the Auxiliae. The way should be open for the AuxCav to charge & kill the enemy Archers on your right flank. After that, they will be killed by the enemy center units.
All other units charges together on the left flank. Their goal is to engage & quickly kill of the heavy inf. First engage the two units of heavy inf that advances slowly forward, with your heavyinf & missile units. Then kill the last heavy inf with missile units & 1 legion unit to guard your missile troops. Your other two legion units should be putting up a battle line, awaiting the charge from the rest of the enemy troops. However, until that time come, make sure your missile units are constantly firing upon the enemy! When the enemy reaches you they should only have two damaged heavy inf units & two damaged heavy cavs. With missile support your remaining legions should dispatch these units quickly!
