Re: Scenario Design Resources
Could the problem be with me. I was not sure where to put the LST file? (as I said, I am a newcomer to all this file sharing business). Would like to help if I can.

Re: Scenario Design Resources
Ah yes, I see. The link is supposed to be to the .LST file and not directly to the .CPF file. So put the .LST ile in the same drop box as the .CPF and post the link to the .LST file here.Warlord156 wrote:Could the problem be with me. I was not sure where to put the LST file? Also note (as I mentioned before) that it is case sensitive, so the .CPF filename reference and URL of the .CPF in the .LST file have to be exact matches.
If you have everything correct it should then work.
Let us know if it doesn't and we will try to figure out what else might be wrong.

Re: Scenario Design Resources
Hope you enjoy it. Just a small scenario to get me started, plenty more on the way. I seem to have lost most of the description on that one, will sort out that problem soon. I am a bit of an ECW nut, so most of my scenario's will be from that war. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Scenario Design Resources
Very nice so far. In order to get the rivers and stream to show correctly, you need to put Water base tiles on the squares. You can place these now and they will appear under the rivers/stream. (DO NOT have AutoEdging on when you do this).Warlord156 wrote:Hope you enjoy it. Just a small scenario to get me started, plenty more on the way. Also, you can have river/stream and road overlay tiles on the same square.
Also you might want to turn AutoEdging on when placing rough ground squares. (BUT turn it off when you are messing about with the rivers). I usually put ShrubsSparse objects on rough ground squares to make them easier to spot.
Of course you do not have a scenario script so there effectively isn't any AI specified - so everything will just attack aggressively. If that is what you want them to do, fair enough. Otherwise, you might be better off making this an MP campaign, and then no AI is needed.
AI_Masterplan() (which won't be activated anyway without a scenario script with it in) will not work correctly with this scenario because of the positioning of the forces.
Also, if you don't want the player(s) to redeploy all their forces on the first turn, you need to toggle off deployment mode for both sides. (Right hand button on 2nd row - you want a circle round both flags)

Re: Scenario Design Resources
Warlord, checking the scenario in the Editor I noticed several things we should discuss elsewhere.
Maybe you could open up a seperate thread here in the Scenario Design Forum so that your new scenario(s) can be discussed. We all have to learn a lot about editing and an exchange of info based on a practical example would help much.

Re: Scenario Design Resources
Thanks for the pointers guys. I made some basic schoolboy errors ( can't believe I missed the water base ). Will work on the points mentioned and repair the scenario as soon as I can.
Adebar, it would be great to discuss with you my errors, I am clearly more of a newbie than what I thought, and any advice you can give will be welcomed.

Re: Scenario Design Resources
As per the docs, you cannot link or download a CPF file, this is the package for the campaign, but you need to create an LST file with the various information in it for the (1 or more) CPF'ed campaigns that you want to link to. Then you post the link to your LST file.

Re: Scenario Design Resources
I have repaired a few of the mistakes in my 1st attempt. I have left the ai at default as the Parliament army needs to be aggressive to destroy the Royalist forces before they can unite.

I see you have got place names on to your map. Not sure if there were any of these in the scenarios that came with came with the game. Well done for getting the very first player made scenerio out the door.

Thanks Hoplite. Made a few mistakes, but all part of the learning curve.

1) You have placed objects which do not currently have models at 25,21 and 28,25.
2) Sadly, by 1644 Hazelrig's regiment were almost certainly equipped exactly the same as other Parliamentarian regiments - following the disastrous performance of the "Lobsters" at Roundway Down.

Re: Scenario Design Resources
Thanks for the info Richard.
I agree with you on the subject of hasselrigg's regiment being equipped as other regiments, just me using a bit of artistic licence. Having been a keen wargamer for more years than I can remember I still like that little bit of variety in my games. For example; whenever I play an American civil war battle I will invariably include at least one unit of zouave's even though these units were relatively rare. . . . Thank you for your input on this scenario design, it turned out to be a little trickier than I first thought...... However, I have enjoyed the experience and hopefully will improve with further attempts......
Once again, thank you for your input and your tolerance of a newbie stumbling around in the dark......
regards, Michael.

Re: Scenario Design Resources
Here is my 2nd attempt at scenario making, using some of the lessons learned in my 1st. This was a bit of a rush job so likely to be some mistakes. The scenario is the 1st battle of Newbury. As time goes by I will place all finished scenarios in a single campaign folder. But at the moment they are all a work in progress and will be constantly updated as I learn more...... Any constructive criticism is welcome, all part of the learning curve. thanks.

Re: Scenario Design Resources
CPF files are not the files that the internal system wants to download. One needs to set up an LST with the details of the CPF file.
