pike and shot online problem

I just bought pike and shot and like the game, but I can only play it offline. When I go online I get a box that says "Tag is too long on line four in <FromData>(0)
Then when that box is dismissed the game stops. The launcher still runs and if I press update it still checks for and update. Any suggestions. I have an HP all-in-one pavilion 23.

sorry, l located the problem. It had to do with a proxy server. I fixed it using my Norton app.
