My old friend Claudia had an expression that perfectly sums up my attitude toward complainers like that -

"F*ck 'em and feed 'em fish!"

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the graphics in Legion Arena, nothing at all.

Ave possum,

I like your picture, very atmospheric.

I support the idea of a "best picture" and maybe a "best caption" competition, perhaps Slitherine could judge them and reward the winner or winners with appropriate prizes. (No jokes about "Oscars", please, but perhaps a little statuette of a Roman soldier wouldn't be too inappropriate? What thinketh thou, oh wise one?)

I see you like elephants!! How come you've yet to post your army to "The End of Game Army Composition" topic? Keeping it a secret? The same question applies to sum1wun, honvedseg and those who have completed the Roman campaign but have posted no result. Come on guys, we'd like to know. Seriously, so would Slitherine.

I believe your screenshot was the battle of Pharsalus 48 BC, map #62. (Max squads 15, Kill 250 enemy. Take less than 75 casualties.) Yes??

IIRC I hid bottom right in that battle behind a screen of auxilias and one unit of velites. I shot the crap out of the enemy with my archers and velites. My auxilias then fought them to a standstill in the scrub & rocky ground. Those that were neither dead nor fled I hunted down with my solitary unit of heavy cavalry afterwards, (those being the skirmishers)
259 kills/29 losses. The most damaging to the enemy were my auxilia/bodyguards killing 68 of them. My army for the battle was as follows:

Legate x 1
Auxilia x 6
Archers x 6
Velites x 1
H.Cav x 1

I would be interested to learn what your army, tactics and kills/losses were.

Vale

PS. For those of you unfamiliar with text abbreviations, IIRC = If I recall correctly.

PPS. A merry Christmas and a prosperous gaming New Year to you, all members and those talented people at Slitherine.

Ahh, you know, Speedy, I honestly don't remember what battle that was. I just saw a cool vista, so I hit retreat, restarted the battle, and hit Print Screen as the camera started to pan down.

Ending composition. Yeah. I've been meaning to do that, but it's a hassle and a half because I can't Alt-Tab out of the game. I'd have to write it all down on paper (OMG, how old-fashioned!). And I'm lazy. There are always more interesting things to do ":)

Ave possum,

You sly old dog!!

I liked your picture so much that I copied it. I then took a long, hard, magnified look at it? Guess what I saw?

Your right hand infantry unit appears to have a command ring around it and I can see, quite clearly, your Legate behind the elephants. Washapi??? Are you by any chance using Ajax's Banner (750 denari, buy it here, now)?

Come clean, or, have you discovered a way to recruit a second Legate? The members need to know!!!

They say "Every picture tells a story" and boy, is that picture talking!!!

So this is what you meant when you wrote "Thrifty, lad, aye thrifty".

Vale

M. Spedius Corbulo

PS. You heard it here first, folks. Possum caught employing TWO Legates. READ the startling facts, SEE the incriminating picture.

PPS. It's a pity it's not April 1st!!!

Oh, no, that's an Ajax banner. I'm a big believer in those high-dollar bonus items. The Sarmatian Cavalry Armor is wonderful.

Oh, and here's another screen I like.

Heavy cavalries galloping in the twilight? Back in the hill, there are Auxilias in line, the far end is militia, behind that archers.
Two scouts wait around the downhill.

PS
Kenneth Macksey passed away.

PS2
So standard bearer is located in the right end anterior row of the unit, I suppose.
Every troop is right-handed, they have sword in their right hand, have shield in their left hand.
So try to envelop from enemy right is better than from light side? So that enemy troops cannot defend with their shields?
Or do they take less time when they manuever to the right than to left?

I dont beleive the side of the shields make a real difference. It could be just me, but I really dont think that was actually encorporated into the game

I'm just wondering whether it or not. And I suppose sum1won is right.

but I sometimes want to know whether righthand or left hand matters.

This is from the same campaign as the Death of Coriolanus pic. You can see I have finally added some Heavy Cavalry :)
