Pike and Shot
My computer game "Pike and Shot" is coming out on Steam on Friday.
It is essentially a computer version of FOGR although I have taken the liberty to tweak various things.
It (currently) covers the Italian Wars, Thirty Years War and English Civil War.
There are 10 historical battles in each of these, plus a random battle mode using army lists, which allows historical (or non-historical) matchups on computer generated maps.
Games can be played against the AI, or against other players using Slitherine PBEM+ system, which works very smoothly. You don't have to be on-line at the same time as your opponent.
You can see a 2-part video of a game being played through on the Steam "Pike and Shot" page - http://store.steampowered.com/app/312390/

It is an excellent game though I didn't go for the Steam version as I find it annoying.

Probably that the Steam engine is quite invasive (surreptitiously) and hogs a bit of resource. Just a guess though...Steam version as I find it annoying

Bought over the weekend, enjoying it so far. Still can't win the final tutorial though.

I did wonder. I thought you had forgotten how to speak English. What are you playing it on that does not have a keyboard?MatteoPasi wrote:Nice game, far better that FOGAM digital.

Re: Pike and Shot
"Steam" is a generic mechanism for having games you have bought downloaded to you via an internet connection. You have to install the Steam capability on your computer. That gives you access to a fair amount of surrounding features; player stats, a bit of a social network etc. It's often cheaper for the publisher becauase you don't need the physical packaging. It may be cheaper for the buyer.ravenflight wrote:Can you explain what this means? The problem is that the application sits on my laptop and keeps talking to the Steam server hence consuming resources because it thinks I want to send all sorts of data to this social gathering, whereas actually I just want to play the game
